The year is flying by--it's almost August already! This calls for a new Blythe doll calendar picture for my cell phone wallpaper. This is Mermaid Tasha at the beach, in non-mermaid form! If you like it, feel free to use this picture on your phone too.

Waiting

"Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting." 

That's what I tell myself when I'm awaiting a new doll. Sea Sailor See was just released, so I should have her within a week or two, but I've been anticipating her arrival for a month already, and my patience is wearing thin!! Luckily, there are plenty of lovely dolls in my doll room to distract me and help me have a good attitude while waiting. Here's Leading Lady Lucy again, still in her stock outfit, which I love.

Monstera Leaf

I enjoy watching design trends come and go. A new one I've noticed in the past year or so is the proliferation of Monstera leaves...they are everywhere! They are so bold and graphic that they are easy to love. I found a cool picture on the Gudrun Sjödén English page on Facebook featuring a beautiful model and a Monstera leaf, and I immediately imagined how it would look with a Blythe doll instead of a person. Here's the picture and my dolly interpretation. 

Yes, of course, I am going to try to do dolly versions of the other two pictures too! But it will take some time to gather the props, so it might not happen right away.

This Blythe doll is Milky Way Sugar. The leaf is part of a small imitation plant I found at Target. 

Water Lily

This Blythe doll is Tsumori Spirit. The background is a poster of one of Claude Monet's water lily paintings. The colors are so similar to her hair! She is standing on a handmade felt water lily that I received in a craft swap many years ago. It's meant to be a pin cushion, but it's just a bit too small to be really functional. I've always loved it though, and I was pleased when I thought of using it in this picture. 

Enchanted Petal

This is Enchanted Petal, for the theme "Petal" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. She's wearing part of her stock outfit (I made the headband.) Her medium-length green hair is really beautiful; it's the thing that made me need her.

This Blythe doll is Bow Wow Trad, posing for the theme "Black" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The dress she is wearing is by Kookanoid (I don't think she is making doll clothes any more); the two shorter dresses are stock (Prima Dolly London, and UFO A Gogo); I made the paw print dress. I loved doing this color-focused picture; it was fun to go through the doll clothes and see what we have that is black and white. It made me realize something too--we need more head wear options!

Simply Lilac is posing for the theme "Purple" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. Finally, I have an entry for this month! I love color themes because they are so wide open; and color is probably my favorite thing in the world. 

It's Lucy!

It's so much fun when a new doll arrives...and it's a guilty pleasure when she isn't designated as a gift for a special occasion! That's the situation with Leading Lady Lucy, who arrived this week. Because she is the 18th Anniversary Neo Blythe doll, she comes with two complete outfits (one for day, and one for night) and she has a lot of fancy details that most Blythes don't have (at least, not all in one doll!) The most obvious special feature is the second string coming out of the back of her head, which allows her to close her eyes and keep them closed--sleep eyes are my favorite thing!!! She also has metallic pink and silver pull rings, translucent skin, eye shadow with eye liner, nail polish, two-tone lips (which are gorgeous!), special eye lashes and FOUR special eye colors. Her hair is described as "pinkish platinum"...and if you have a good imagination, you can see the pink!! Haha! Actually, the pink is so very subtle that it's only noticeable in certain light. I intend to do a side-by-side picture with Stella Serendipitous, whose hair is called "silver gray," to see if Lucy's pink tone will be more apparent.  

Let's talk about her clothes. I love them--all of them! Every single thing she comes with is wonderful. My two favorite pieces are the fluffy slippers (so cute!) and the charming little hat. When I inspected the underside of the hat, I noticed that it was sewn together by hand. Since I've done a lot of hand sewing, I always appreciate it when I see it, particularly in a manufactured item like this, where it is unexpected.

She has a lot of hair! In this picture it has been washed once. I will probably wash it again, as it is still slightly sticky.

Her outgoing style is a silky dotted dress paired with long gloves and fishnet stockings, along with a black hand bag. Her hair accessory is a netted bouquet of flowers, with pearl necklaces and earrings. 

At night, she wears a pink satin neglige with a see through gown with a sleep mask that has the words “Dreamy Eyes” embroidered in gold on the front, with a pair of white fur slippers.
