June Color of the Month

 I love doing Pantone-inspired doll pictures. This is Candy Carnival, posing for the theme “Relax” in the Blythe Pure and Simple group on Facebook. I’ve done this theme several times before, with a doll reclining on a sofa or chair, reading a book, so this time I wanted to do something different and hopefully unexpected. I’m posting this on the last day of May rather than in June because my June calendar is FULL! I will be participating in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr, with mostly prehistoric daily prompts, so my dolls will soon be meeting some dinosaurs.

Yellow

This beautiful Blythe doll is Prima Dolly Marigold, posing on a jigsaw puzzle from Cobble Hill. I’m not sure what color I will do next; there will be a bit of a break while I focus on all things prehistoric for the Flickr Blythe a Day group in June. At first I didn’t think I would participate because I didn’t have a dinosaur to my name, but I realized that if I placed an Amazon order, I could have everything I need very quickly, and I could expand my dolly photo horizons…so I did, and I’m already working on some pictures for that. The other color puzzles will have to wait!

Lady Panacea is posing on a jigsaw puzzle I just finished. I splurged and bought the whole set of these color puzzles from Cobble Hill—seven separate colors and one rainbow puzzle. Up next: yellow.

These Blythe dolls are Cadence Majorette and Yellow Marshmallow. This is the third picture I’ve done for the photo challenge theme “Playing favorites”…and yes, I realize that I have concentrated on the word “playing” and totally ignored “favorites!” Part of the fun of photo challenges, for me, is following my inspiration, even if I don’t follow the theme exactly.

I’m currently reading a series of books focused on historical time travel (The Chronicles of St. Mary’s by Jodi Taylor), so I have time on the brain…so when I saw this background (a piece of artist’s paper from Somerset Magazine) I searched for a quote to go with it, and it all came together in this picture.

At the end of the day, it’s good to be home.

Go Fly a Kite

The weather is sunny and warm in Blytheville, so please join us at the beach for some kite flying this afternoon. (Bring your own kite.)

I made this kite from colored paper, baker’s twine, and ribbon for the theme “Go fly a kite.” Simply Thumpty Thump is perfect for this picture, since she has short hair that lets the back of her pretty swimsuit show.

St. Gertrude of Nivelles

I just learned an amazing thing today: there is a patron saint of cats, and her feast day is my birthday!! I suppose the reason I’ve never heard of her before is that on March 17th, she is overshadowed by St. Patrick. I am a devoted cat lover, so I am pleased to make her acquaintance. This Blythe doll is Lady Panacea. I might start calling her Gertrude!
