Oct 10: Curiosities

One of Drusilla’s favorite activities is rearranging the display on her Bureau of Curiosities.

This Blythe doll is Daunting Drusilla for Bureau of Curiosities on Flickr and Bewitched on Facebook. With this close up angle, I couldn’t figure out how to include a pointy hat on Drusilla, since I’m putting a witch in every picture this month—then I realized that there is a witch on the bureau, so Drusilla didn’t need a hat! You can’t see too much of it, but this bureau is a beautiful old piece of doll furniture from the antique mall. I made her dress, as well as the two larger items on the bottom shelf: the purple blob (from air dry clay) and the monster book (from a matchbox).

Oct. 9: Natural Beauty

I tried every sample in the beauty supply store, and I am feeling BOO-tiful!

This Blythe doll is Silent Lucretia for “BOO-tiful” on Flickr and “Bewitched” on Facebook. The little cosmetics are from mini surprise balls.

Oct 8: Smoke

I think I need to turn down the flames, or my vegetable soup is going to be scorched!

This Blythe doll is Chocolat Blythe for “Why is there so much smoke?” on Flickr and “Bewitched” on Facebook. The background is a jigsaw puzzle. I made the smoke from the cauldron from scrapbooking paper; the flames are felt. Veggies on the cutting board are real, the one in the basket are artificial.

Oct 7: Day Job For a Witch

“What am I making? Oh, about $25 an hour including tips.”

This Blythe doll is Minty Magic for “What are you making” on Flickr and “Bewitched” on Facebook. Her dress came from Etsy. The background is a jigsaw puzzle.

Oct 6: Not Creepy

I’m glad MY doll isn’t creepy!

This Middie Blythe doll is Apple Jamlicious for “Bewitched” on Facebook and “This doll is not creepy” on Flickr. This is the first time I’ve photographed her out of her stock outfit; I think she makes a sweet little witch. The Living Dolls billboard is a souvenir from Howl O Scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Her black cat doll is a mini Lalaloopsy.

Oct. 5: With an Owl to Lead the Way

It’s not easy being a vegetarian witch; fortunately, mushrooms make an excellent substitute for both eye of newt and toe of frog. Chocolat goes out to forage every evening, with her feathered friend Ghost the owl leading the way to the best mushroom patches.

This Blythe doll is Chocolat Blythe, for “It has feathers” on Flickr and “Bewitched” on Facebook. The owl came in a Harry Potter play set; it looks as much like a ghost as an owl, but either way, it works for this Halloween theme! The background is a poster.

Oct. 4: Crazy Aunt Hilda

This is a picture of Crazy Aunt Hilda. We called her that because she always dressed as the Bride of Frankenstein, even when it wasn’t Halloween!

This Blythe doll is Silent Lucretia, for “Meet My Crazy Aunt Hilda” on Flickr. When I was compiling the list of themes for this month, this one seemed like it might be too weird to work, but I kept it, and I am eager to see how everyone interpreted it! Isn’t this background jigsaw puzzle so funny? I really enjoyed making it. I’ve had Lucretia since she was released in February of this year, but I’ve only taken a few pictures of her. I think this spooky season is her time to shine!
