Slippers

Comfort is important. When packing for a trip, don’t forget your slippers (or your underwear)!

These Blythe dolls are Simply Bubble Boom, Simply Sparkly Spark, and Simply Thumpty Thump posing for the theme “Nail polish” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. It was surprisingly difficult to squash them together and make them stay in place with their hands in close proximity to each other…I had to sacrifice nicely brushed hair to achieve my objective!

Do you remember the Powerpuff Girls cartoon from the early 2000’s? I know it because my children watched it, and the artwork on the boxes of these dolls shows them flying through the air, so they reminds me of them. However, these dolls are supposed to be superheroes who fly from the clouds when the Petite Blythe Tora Unpappa blows her horn, according to their biographies…even though they have ice skates, not capes!

Cool

“Every collection that I work on, I always think, Is this cool enough to wear to a concert?” —Anna Sui

I took this picture for the theme “Sunglasses” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr, then did a Google search for quotes including the word “cool”— because I LOVE the way a quote can enhance a photo, and I think this picture embodies the feeling of being cool. I freaked out a little when I found this quote, by Anna Sui, because this doll is Blythe Adores Anna Sui!! It couldn’t be more perfect. 

I’m not into fashion at all, so I had never heard of Anna Sui before this Blythe doll was released. I think it’s cool how my interest in Blythe has led to many other things…travel, friendships, new avenues of knowledge and information I otherwise wouldn’t have.

Winter Scarf

“You can’t have too much winter in the winter.” —Robert Frost

I’m afraid many people would disagree with this quote, as winter makes one last big effort across much of the United States this week in the form of a huge blizzard. I’m thankful to live in Virginia; we have had beautiful weather recently (yesterday it reached 80 degrees!)

This Blythe doll is Simply Thumpty Thump, posing for the theme “Scarf” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. As I mentioned recently, I keep my eyes open for beautiful variegated yarn, and the bright neon colors of this skein really spoke to me. I love how the scarf came out with distinct bands of color, but the hat is a different story! I don’t really like how the colors mix together so much. Maybe if I add a big pink pompon to the top I will like the hat more.

Lucky Day

And that was the day Hope realized that “luck” means being in the right place at the right time.

This Blythe doll is Spring Hope, posing for the theme “Favorite Sweater” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The sweater is my favorite because of the beautiful colors of the variegated yarn. I had only a small amount of this yarn, just enough to make the sweater and matching beret, plus another short sleeved sweater. I’ve never found yarn like this again, and I’ve looked!

Snow

 If you choose not to find joy in the snow, you will have less joy in your life, but still the same amount of snow.
