Home Again

“My trip around the world was amazing, but I’m glad to be back. There’s no place like home!”

This Blythe doll is Pretty Peony, wearing her stock dress for the theme “Home again” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. This is the last day of my month of hosting the group, and I agree with Peony, it has been amazing! There was lots of participation and lots of great photos. Thank you everyone!

Here’s the memory she is enjoying:

Japan

These Blythe dolls (Lady Camellia and Sea Sailor See) are loyal to the land of their birth: Japan! They are both wearing their stock outfits (Sea Sailor Sea has traded her stock hat for Pretty Peony’s hair comb, however.)

I lived in Japan with my husband and two small children for three years. We left a few years before Blythe started her resurgence in 2001, so no, I didn’t “meet” Blythe there, unfortunately! But that is where I bought the kokeshi doll you see between them in this picture.

This picture is for the theme “Favorite country” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Tricks and Treats

Are you ready? It’s almost time for tricks and treats!

I recently found this super cute Halloween fabric as part of a bundle at JoAnns, and I managed to make these dresses. Hooray for me! I’m hoping to get a couple more done this week, using other fabrics from the bundle. I mailed one of these dresses to a friend yesterday as a fun surprise.

These Blythe dolls are Cloud 9 Bowl and Sarah Shades.

Small World

It’s a small world after all!

This Blythe doll is Prima Dolly Peony, posing for the theme “It’s a small world” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I added the frame of world flag “buttons” using PicCollage…which is a new app for me (I’ve always used PicMonkey) but it has a lot of things that PicMonkey doesn’t, like fun frames! So it’s nice to have something new to help me when I don’t have any great ideas for a picture.

Guide

“Welcome everyone, I will be your tour guide today. To keep from getting separated from the group, please keep your eye on the polka dot umbrella.”

This Blythe doll is Simply Sparkly Spark, posing for the theme “Guided tour” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. When I was in high school, I went on a trip to Europe, and this is how the guide kept everyone together. The background is an unfinished painting my daughter worked on a few years ago and abandoned…now it’s in my pile of backgrounds!

Angellica

“Give compassion: Every day the average person fights epic battles never told just to survive.” —Ken Poirot

I’m loving my newest Blythe doll, Angellica Nurse of Compassion. She’s quite extraordinary, with her purple-black hair, two-toned lips, and special eyelashes. I like the way her vintage-looking stock nurse’s outfit easily transforms into a regular outfit by removing the hat, apron, and armband, and adding the hair bow. I love everything about her, and I’m so happy to welcome her to my dolly family!

Explore

Life is short and the world is wide. Explore it!

This Blythe doll is Simply Thumpty Thump, posing for the theme “Explore” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a jigsaw puzzle.
