You Are My Sunshine

Who looks good in yellow? Asha Alvira, that's who! I was sure she would, so I made this dress with her in mind. The skirt has dog portraits all round it, so I posed her with a Littlest Pet Shop dog on my front steps. She really does look sun-shiny, and it makes me happy to look at her.

What AM I Doing?

This started out as a study in yellow, but it ended up as a bit of silliness that I hope will make you smile. This Blythe doll is Mrs. Retro Mama and her little taxi driver friend is a Sonny Angel. She's wearing a wonderful vintage Skipper dress; the yellow is exactly the same shade as her hair color, so she rarely changes out of it.

All Gold in One

"Color is the place where our brain and the universe meet."
                               --Paul Klee

Mrs. Retro Mama really has no choice: with hair like sunshine, yellow MUST be her favorite color! This picture is for the theme "All Gold in One," which is why she is wearing Goldie's jumpsuit. I started by looking for gold accessories to go with the theme, but I quickly realized that the jumpsuit is really more yellow than gold, which dictated my choice of doll and props.

Shine Like the Sun

Hoping everyone is having a bright, sunshiny day.

This is Prudence, my Ms. Retro Mama Blythe doll. She has been here for a few months, but I haven't had time to play with her until now. She has been wearing her stock red dress--heavy fabric, long sleeves, high neckline--and heavy yellow tights, and just looking at her made me feel hot and uncomfortable...so I made her this cheerful summer dress, and now she looks MUCH better!
