Back to Nature

Take time to wonder at the mysteries of nature.

This is another picture from the past...I took it in 2016. I'm happy to have a chance to use it again for the theme "Back to Nature" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The Blythe doll is Raspberry Sorbet; the little woodland creature is a Sonny Angel.

What AM I Doing?

This started out as a study in yellow, but it ended up as a bit of silliness that I hope will make you smile. This Blythe doll is Mrs. Retro Mama and her little taxi driver friend is a Sonny Angel. She's wearing a wonderful vintage Skipper dress; the yellow is exactly the same shade as her hair color, so she rarely changes out of it.

Snow Much Fun

If they had remembered to bring a thermos of hot chocolate, their afternoon of snowman building would have been perfect.

The Blythe on the left is Unicorn Maiden (wearing Ice Rune's stock outfit) and on the right is Snowflake Sonata (wearing Lavender Hugs' stock outfit.)

Bushel of Fun

Hooray! It's apple picking time!

This Blythe doll is Patty Patch Fluffy Coat; her little apple-head friend is a Sonny Angel doll. This picture is for the theme "Bushel Full of Fun" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Life is But a Dream

Row, row, row your boat
gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
life is but a dream.

I am so happy to be back to making doll pictures again!

I've just finished rearranging my house, so now all my dolls, along with all their clothes and photo props, are upstairs in the bedroom that used to belong to my son. (He has been out of the house for a couple of years, so I thought it was safe to use his old room!) I also transferred everything from my old sewing room which was downstairs, up to the new space, so I now have a big studio where I can work, and I can close the door to keep out the cats when I'm done. Up until now I've had a small sewing room with no door, and all my dolls and photography props had taken over our small dining room, which also has no door. I knew it would be a huge and difficult task to move it all upstairs, which is why it has taken so long to happen, but I am so glad I finally did it.

Now that the dust has settled, it's time to be creative with dolls again--yay! In today's photo,  Pretty Peony and her friends might be floating down a stream in bathtubs; or perhaps they are safe at home, only imagining this adventure.

Love is All Around You

Happy Valentine's Day to YOU!

I chose Prima Dolly London for this picture because her hair is the perfect color for today's Valentine theme. She's sitting on the lid of a Godiva chocolate box, which my dear husband gave me when we celebrated Valentine's Day on Monday...because today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, and a day of fasting for Catholics, so eating chocolate and going out to a big dinner wouldn't work for us today! The card with the panda bear came in the mail from one of my Facebook dolly friends; what a nice surprise that was.

Happy 2018!

We wish you a year of health and happiness in 2018!

A common theme for a new year is the contrast between the new and the old, so I've made this picture with my oldest Blythe, Jane, my Kenner. The "new" is represented by the baby-like Sonny Angel.

This picture is for the theme "old/new" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I'm going to try to do a photo for each theme, using a different sheet of scrapbook paper for the background of each one. I have a big pad of assorted papers (I think there are 64 different designs), so I hope to be able to find something that will work for each day's theme. The limitation to scrapbook paper is the size--each sheet is just 12"x12", so there will be a lot of close-ups and head shots this month!

Rainbow

Be the rainbow.

My new Sonny Angel Rainbow boy and Simply Sparkly Spark Blythe (Alice) doll are perfect together. Alice's dress is by WPJenny on Etsy.

The rainbow is made from Crazy Bones, which were a popular fad toy about 15 years ago. Four pieces came in a package for about two dollars.  My children and I would buy a couple of packs every time we went to the bookstore where they were sold, then play the game on the kitchen floor: both players set up a line of their pieces, and then took turns throwing a single crazy bone to try to knock out their opponent's pieces. (Read about Crazy Bones on  Wikipedia.)

Rainy Day Reflection

"The only time we can walk in the rain is when it's raining! Hurry, let's go before it stops."

Marina, my Playful Raindrops Blythe doll, is joined by one of the latest Sonny Angel releases--they all have a weather theme. This boy is Thunder.

Mother's Day

It's Mother's Day in the USA today. My wish for every mother around the world is that you will have a day full of blessings and happiness!

In the Pink

According to Fleur, pink is not just a color, it's a lifestyle!

This is Charlotte des Fleurs. Obviously, this picture is for the theme "pink"!

Best Friends Forever

There is nothing on this earth
more to be prized
than true friendship.

--Thomas Aquinas

For the theme "casual": Maisy (Spright Beauty) keeps it casual with a simple dress. Pants-less Sonny Angel is ALWAYS the epitome of casual.

Knitting is Nice

Sonny Angel had been complaining of the cold
so much that Marina took pity on him
and decided to knit him a sweater.

This is my new Sonny Angel, Pansy, and my Playful Raindrops Blythe doll.

Merry Christmas Eve Eve Eve!

Look and See

It's not what you look at that matters,
it's what you see.

--Henry David Thoreau

While others passed by without giving the shrubbery a second glance, Bonnie (Raspberry Sorbet) looked more closely and saw something unusual.

Strawberry Question

This is the most recent Sonny Angel to join my collection--and he is my favorite! I love his pink strawberry head and his matching pink cheeks. He is just plain cute!

When I started thinking about it, I wondered, why did they make his strawberry head pink, instead of red? Then I remembered that a while ago, I made the pink strawberry pincushion in this picture. Why? Because pink is pretty! So I guess that answers my question about the Sonny Angel.

Of course, I chose London (Prima Dolly London) to pose for this picture because of her pink hair. I made her dress several years ago, and it is almost perfect for this theme...although now I wish I had made that strawberry pink too!

The Tug of War is the most popular activity at the annual church picnic. Everyone is welcome to participate, no matter how big or small. You can hear the team captains shouting, "All together now--PULL!!!"

These Blythes are: Cherry Beach Sunset, Mod Molly, Puchippu Chapu Pepa (middie), and My Little Candy.

Indoor Plumbing

Ugh. It's just been one thing after another since the Sonny Angels came to stay.

The guy in the front is a Sonny Angel. The girl who has to clean up after him is the well-named Patience, my Veronica Lace Blythe doll.
