Holiday Humor

We "whisk" you a merry Christmas!

This Blythe doll is Home Sweet Home. Her cute Christmas pudding print dress was one of the first things I bought, used, when I started collecting in 2011, but this is the first time it has been perfect for a particular photo. You may have noticed that my pictures are usually full of bright colors, but this one started with the whisk and the background scrapbook paper, so in order to continue the beige/brown color scheme, this ecru dress and blonde-haired doll were the obvious choices.

That Christmas Feeling

It just wouldn't feel like Christmas without hearing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" a few dozen times.

This pretty Blythe doll is Home Sweet Home. The record player is a Hallmark ornament that actually plays the Rudolph song.

Prelude to a Kiss

She just received an anonymous love letter, and Jill doesn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Home Sweet Home

Jill loves to do needlework...and she loves her home.

This is the stock Blythe doll called Home Sweet Home, for the theme of the same name in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. She's wearing Coco Collette's stock dress.  I didn't realize I had so many house/home props until I started pulling them together for this picture! The samplers on the wall are just paper, printed from the internet.

We Love Spring Flowers

For flowers that bloom about our feet;
For tender grass, so fresh, so sweet;
For song of bird, and hum of bee;
For all things fair we hear or see;
Father in heaven, we thank Thee!

Cup of Tea

Dear Home Sweet Home, you certainly are my cup of tea.

It took a lot of washing, but I finally got all the grease out of her hair! Someone recommend using Dawn Ultra, and when I was shopping for it I noticed another version of Dawn, called Dawn Ultra Platinum...which suggested to me that it was even better than Ultra, so I grabbed it, ran home, and gave her another shampoo. As you can see, the results were fabulous!

She is still in her stock outfit because I love it on her.

Let's All Read a Book

Someday, Jill hopes to have a big house with an actual library. Until then, the books are in scattered piles and on random shelves.

Irresistable

Jill wanted to wait until she got home to eat the donut, but it looked so delicious and smelled so amazingly good that she stood outside the bakery door and took a great big bite.

Blythe Con Brooklyn Donation

A few months ago I was contacted by a member of the BlytheCon Brooklyn organizing team, asking if I could make a donation for a raffle prize. I was happy to say "yes", and today I am even happier to say that I have finally finished my donation! This is my new girl Jill (Home Sweet Home) modeling the outfit I will be sending to the Con.

The pink dress fabric is one of several that was designed especially for this Con's theme of "The 1980's". It features scattered cassette tapes (hey, I remember those!) in different sizes. This four-piece set includes a sleeveless dress, a hairbow made from the same fabrics as the dress, a short-sleeved wool sweater, and a wool felt shoulder bag with a cassette tape on the front, also made from felt.

In addition to the dress set, I will also be donating one of my new Blythe Happy calendars for 2018. It's hot off the press! I had it made at Snapfish, and it looks really good.

BlytheCon Brooklyn will take place on October 22, 2017. I hope to be there!

Meet Jill

Introducing my pretty new Blythe doll, Home Sweet Home! She will go by the name Jill.

I normally prefer the fantasy-haired girls, but I just love Jill's soft coloring, translucent skin, and her pink and blue outfit. I was pleasantly surprised to find the two paper extras that came with her: the adorable Blythe-in-a-box that is her mini-me, and the sweet little shopping bag from the store Junie Moon. Both of these items had to be assembled. The doll box was simple to fold together, but the shopping bag required glue and I had to supply the handles; luckily, I have a huge selection of ribbon in my sewing room so it was easy to find some that matched. I also added my own tissue paper to the bag to make it look like Jill just came home from a shopping trip.

I've had her for a couple of weeks, but I haven't posted her picture until now because her hair required FIVE washes to get the grease out! This is the most work I've had to put into a doll to make her presentable right out of the box, and she could probably still use another shampoo. That's her only drawback--if you are thinking of getting her, be prepared to wash, wash, wash her hair!
