Pretty Portrait

She really is as pretty as a picture.

What do you do with your favorite doll pictures after you have posted them online? I like to turn them into post cards. This Blythe doll is Allegra Champagne posing with a post card of herself from a picture I took a couple of years ago.

Joy

"Find out where joy resides, and give it a voice far beyond singing. For to miss the joy is to miss all."

The Flavor of Easter

We had a very chocolate-y Easter. Should a girl be expected to choose just one?

Allegra Champagne chose the dark chocolate chick.

Tea for Two

Having tea together is such a friendly thing to do.

These girls are Sadie Sprinkle (left) and Allegra Champagne (right.) Their hair is the same color (any differences in this photo are due to lighting, I think), so I wanted to put them together for a comparison photo. They are wearing the stock dresses from Coco Collette and Junie Moonie Cutie. This picture is for the theme "Tea for Two" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Style Report

"One is never over- or underdressed with a little black dress."
                                                          --Karl Lagerfeld

This is Allegra Champagne, wearing her stock dress and hair bow. The purse is a Hallmark ornament, and the shoes are from Barbie (I think.) For the theme "Little Black Dress" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Gold

Beautiful golden hair runs in their family.

These girls are Allegra Champagne (Neo) and Bubbly Bliss (Middie). Bubbly Bliss has been in her box for the past year. I recently saw that a Facebook friend had just unboxed hers, and it made me think that I should do the same. Then I noticed that today's theme for the Blythe a Day group is "gold", so I quickly opened her box, washed her hair (it was rather greasy), and posed her with her big sister. Her stock outfit has gold accents, and of course Allegra's gorgeous gown is all gold, so together they are perfect for this theme.

Deck the Halls

As Bridget hangs the wreath on the front door, the Christmas decorating is DONE! Now it's time for some gingerbread and hot chocolate.

She is Allegra Champagne. Do you like our new door? It is an incredible prop that my husband got for me for Christmas...yes, he said I could sneak it out of the bag for a picture! It is produced in Colonial Williamsburg, and it is meant to go with a set of dolls that they sell (which I do not like! Like this doll .) It is perfect for Blythe. I will show more of it in the future.

BlytheCon Brooklyn Raffle Prizes

At the end of my last post I teased you with a picture of me clutching this box in glee...and one reader actually knows what's inside. Colette messaged me to say that she suspects that it contains a set of bedding, and an actual bed, from Florence and Taylor on Etsy, and she is correct!

Look at how gorgeous this is!! Layer upon layer of soft and beautiful covers, and a lot of matching pillows, two of which have Brooklyn and BlytheCon images on them. The color scheme is so soft and pretty.

The bed is quite lovely too, with the tufted headboard. What you can't see is that the set also includes a perfect little mattress. I wish I could sleep in this bed, but I have to leave it to my Blythes. Maisy, my Spright Beauty, seems to love it.

I still can't believe I won this fabulous gift. Thank you Abi Monroe!

But wait--there's more! I won another prize in the raffle drawing: this very cute Blythe-sized bicycle. It's pink! Perfect! Bridget (Allegra Champagne) will be the first to give it a try.

It's hard to believe, but I still need to make another post to show you the rest of the loot I got from BlytheCon Brooklyn. My goody bag was full of fun little things that I want to show off.

Near the Water

For today's theme, "Water", I packed up a couple of Blythes and drove along the York River until we came to a pull-over spot with a clear view of the water. I had brought a wooden crate for a seat for the dolls, so I put that on the grass in front of my car, arranged a doll on it, and started shooting pictures. The pictures came out okay, but not great. I was in a hurry because I didn't want to attract attention, and my camera is not great outside because the only way to see what you are shooting is the screen on the back of the camera, which is hard to see in bright light. I much prefer the controlled environment of an indoor photo shoot, and my camera works better there too. Looking at these, I wish I could have gotten closer to the water, as it is really such a small part of each picture.

This is Bridget (Allegra Champagne) wearing a Blythe Happy dress. Out of all the pictures I took of her, this is my favorite because of the sun shining on her wavy hair.

This is Gidget (Cherry Beach Sunset) wearing the stock dress and head wrap from Pineapple Princess.  The sun was so bright at her back that her skin tone looks extra dark in the shade. I love her profile in this picture.

Green is the Color...

Happy St. Patrick's Day

The beautiful Allegra Champagne poses for one more picture...I took this last week, when I was using her as my model exclusively, and now I will tell you why: I was trying to help a friend sell HER Allegra Champagne, and my plan was to take to most appealing pictures of her that I could manage, and to post them on Facebook, where my friend had her doll for sale. And it worked! A few days after I started posting pictures, the doll sold (although the newly-lowered price had something to do with it too, I'm sure.)

It's a beautiful day! Zelda grabbed her friends and headed to the park to enjoy the outdoors. Happy Selfie Sunday, everyone!

Child of the Universe

"You are a child of the universe,
       no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here."
--from "The Desiderata" by Max Ehrmann

The quote, above, is from the poem called The Desiderata by Max Ehrmann. I remember hearing this poem when I was in high school, and I just re-read it--wow! It contains so much wisdom and good advice. I expect to use several more quotes from in to accompany doll pictures in the near future. (Click on the blue words to go to the full text.)

Natural Beauty

A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.
                                                         --Zen Shin

Allegra Champagne, the 15th Anniversary Blythe doll.  She is especially beautiful because not only is she translucent, she also has a pearly finish to her face.

Poetry and Daffodils

I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud

Related Poem Content Details

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

This is Bridget, my Allegra Champagne Blythe doll. The daffodils in our front yard have been in bloom for almost two weeks now, and I wanted to capture a few of them before they go. I hope you didn't mind the long-ish poem, but it seemed to be just the right thing to accompany this photo.

Smile

Bridget wants to remind you that smiling is good for you. Studies suggest that smiling (even fake smiling) lowers stress and anxiety, strengthens your immune system, and releases endorphins.

Come on now, everybody, SMILE!

Beauty Sleep

Did you know that some of the most sophisticated
young women still sleep with stuffed animals?

This is the very sophisticated Bridget, aka Allegra Champagne, enjoying her beauty sleep in bedding by Angie Coppi (Goodnight, Sweet Blythe on Facebook).

and eyes, without speaking,
confess the secrets of the heart.

The Queen of Everything

Her Royal Highness,
Bridget, the Queen of Everything
knows that the most important things in life
aren't "things".
