National Parfait Day is celebrated on November 25, 2015. Parfait is a French word literally meaning "perfect" commonly employed to describe a kind of frozen dessert, beginning in 1894.

Sporty Girl


Penny only participates in one sport: bowling--but she loves it passionately! As the captain of her bowling team, she has led her teammates to victory in the state-wide championships three years in a row!

Penny is my Cloud 9 Bowl Blythe doll. She came with this awesome outfit, including the retro glasses. The bowling pins are real, and were presented to my son as trophies when he was in a league--they each have an engraved plate on the other side with details of the awards. The cute ball, bag, towel, and score cards were a lucky find at Target--they came in an accessory pack for Our Generation dolls.

Keeping Busy

There are no idle hands around here! Penny is working at the sewing machine today, finishing up some new panty designs. What would I do without my dolly helpers???

A New Doll for a Doll

I was in a Blythe swap a few months ago (we swapped stuff for our dolls, not the dolls themselves!) and for my partner I sewed a dress, then took a picture of one of my dolls in the dress, then turned the picture into a doll. The picture below shows the doll and the dress I sent in the swap:

I kept thinking about that mini-Blythe doll and wishing I had made one for myself...so I looked in my sewing room and discovered that I still had a little bit of the fabric--just enough for one dress--yippee! I also discovered that I still had the original pictures on my computer, so I made another mini-Blythe. The picture below shows my doll Penny with the new dress and the second mini-Blythe. I think the mini doll came out smaller the second time around.  I'm so happy with this set, and Penny is happy with her mini-me!

I made the dress Penny is wearing for my swap partner (HouseofHarlow) in the January Blythe Kingdom swap.  Penny hated to see it go, because she thinks it looks fabulous with her hair!  I agree!

Rainy Day

The weather isn't fit for dolls today...we're staying inside.

One White Dress

One of the major surprises I had after purchasing my first few Blythes (aside from the surprise of seeing how huge their heads look in the box when you first get them), was that some of their clothes and props can actually stain the parts of the doll that they touch.  Whether you call it "bleeding" or "color transfer," the fact is that plastic used for the arms and legs of Blythes very easily absorbs pigments if left in contact with anything colored for more than a short time.  After seeing it happen to my dolls, I realized the best thing to do is to dress them in white when I'm not taking pictures of them wearing something else.

I made pretty Christmas party dresses for them from the pattern at Puchi Collective, and I like that pattern so well that I now plan to make each of my girls a white dress from it.  I've just finished the first one, and I custom-made it for my very newest doll, Penny.  She is a Cloud Nine Bowl Blythe that I bought for myself with the money I received at Christmas (thanks, Mom!)

I added one inch to the length of the skirt so it falls just below the knee, and I embroidered her name on the skirt.  I think it's obvious why I chose the color orange for the embroidery and the ribbon at the waist!

Penny has the most beautiful orange-y hair; it's actually several shades of orange mixed together.

It won't be long before all my girls are ready to post together in their white dresses.  Each one will have her own "signature" color for the embroidery and ribbon.
