Halloween Besties

"Every day is Halloween, isn't it? For some of us."
          --Tim Burton

These Blythes are, starting at the top and going clockwise: Mod Molly, Bow Wow Trad, Chocolat Blythe, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, Cloud 9 Bowl, Milky Way Sugar, Sarah Shades, and Enchanted Petal. Day 24 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Even though the above quote has nothing to do with Halloween, it is perfect for this picture so I went with it! The Blythes are, starting at the top and going clockwise: Mod Molly, Bow Wow Trad, Chocolat Blythe, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, Cloud 9 Bowl, Milky Way Sugar, Sarah Shades, and Enchanted Petal. Day 24 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Halloween's Favorite Candy

It's not Halloween without candy corn.

This Blythe doll is Cloud 9 Bowl, joined by a friendly candy corn critter that I received in a craft swap a few years ago. Day 17 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Orange

Orange you glad it's almost Halloween?

Sarah Shades and Cloud 9 Bowl wait impatiently for the spooky day to arrive. Day 14 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Witches' Brew

"This brew smells great!"

"Thanks! I ran out of lizard tongues, so I used lemon zest."

These Blythe dolls are Sarah Shades (left, wearing a dress I made) and Cloud 9 Bowl (right, wearing a dress I bought second-hand with no label.) The background is a printed canvas from Pier 1 Imports. Day 10 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Pumpkin Time

Ah, finally, it's FALL! There was a big outdoor art event going on in our town on Saturday, and the weather was perfect.  I brought Penny (my Cloud 9 Bowl) wrapped in a towel in my purse. I was hoping to find something scenic for a photo, so I was thrilled when I came upon this little tableau. Doesn't she look sweet? She's wearing a dress with a candy corn print for day 6 of 31 Days of Halloween.

October 2019 Calendar Page

It's time to update my cellphone with calendar wallpaper for the new month, starring a Blythe doll, of course! October's page has to be spooky, and Cloud 9 Bowl, with her orange hair, makes the perfect witch. She's wearing Milky Way Sugar's stock dress, and Chocolat Blythe's stock hat, cape, shoes and broom. Her kitty companion is a figurine of Jiji from the movie Kiki's Delivery Service. The background image is a print on canvas.

If you like this picture, feel free to use it on your phone too. Happy Halloween!

Here's how it looks on my phone's lock screen:

Eyewear

It looks like someone needs new glasses.

I hope she keeps the cat eye style, they are so cute!

This Blythe is Tsumori Spirit. The glasses are from Cloud 9 Bowl. The theme is "eyewear" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Blythe is Beautiful

"I woke up this way!!"

This is Cloud 9 Bowl; she joined the fun here at Blythe Happy back in 2012. As you can see, she is still as gorgeous as ever. The crocheted blanket is from BlythDesign on Etsy. I love the look of crochet, and I truly appreciate items that are made by hand, but I've never been able to get the hang of crochet, so I was happy to find this beautiful, dolly-scale bed cover. It goes perfectly with our cobalt-blue bed and the pillows made by Angie Coppi.

Welcome, Sarah!

"I heard you were coming, so I baked a cake."

(Penny, my Cloud 9 Bowl, is the self-appointed head of the welcoming committee.)

Sarah Shades is here, and I love how colorful she is! Her bright, retro wardrobe really strikes a chord with me. She has two complete outfits, which is really awesome. The only thing she didn't come with was nice underwear...but I took care of that little problem right away!

Her hair was rather greasy and stringy when I took her out of the box, so I gave her a shampoo with Dawn Platinum dish soap, followed by a dunk in Downy fabric softener. Now her hair is curly and pretty.

I didn't notice it until I looked at the photo below, but her right eyeball is lower than her left one. Luckily, that sort of minor flaw doesn't bother me.

All in all, she is a lovely doll and I'm happy to have her in my collection.

Insomnia

She sleeps well most of the year; but in October, Penny always develops a case of insomnia.

All You Need Is...

LOVE. It's all you need.
It was surprisingly difficult to decide what to do for the theme "love". There are so many ways I could have gone with it, but most of them felt too much like Valentine's Day to me. In the end, it was the simple solution that worked the best.

Simply Lilac, Prima Dolly London, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, and Cloud 9 Bowl.

Multitasking

When she moved to the city and started her own business, Penny was pleased to discover that dog walking not only pays well, but it is also great exercise.

Don't Leave Home Without It

Penny never leaves home without her camera, because she doesn't want to miss the chance to take an amazing photograph.

Here's the picture she took that day:

These dolls are Cinema Princess (left); Middie Blythe Lena Elena; and Cloud 9 Bowl (right).

Blythe Rainbow

For quite some time, I've wanted to redo this picture of a line of rainbow-hued Blythes. I use this picture not only here on my blog, but also as the header for my Etsy shop and on my business cards. When the theme "rainbow" appeared in the Blythe a Day group on flickr this month, I knew the time had come to finally do it!

The picture below may look similar to the one at the top of my blog, but there are two main differences: all the dolls in this new picture are completely stock (because I realized that I prefer the stock Blythes, and that is now the focus of my collection), and their outfits and stands better reflect the rainbow theme. Also, I have become a better photographer and photo editor since the first picture! This new one is brighter and just overall BETTER than the first! I took care to arrange their hair,  arms and legs, and to line them up more carefully than I did the first time. I've come to see how important little details are, like making sure their hair is out of their face, and they are looking at the camera.

My Blythe collection has grown quite a bit since I took the first picture, so I was able to use a different doll for every color...except orange. Cloud 9 Bowl is so perfect for that little slice of the rainbow that she had to make a repeat appearance.

Here are their stock names, from left to right:

Cinema Princess
Cloud 9 Bowl
Mrs. Retro Mama
Prima Dolly Amaryllis
Simply Sparkly Spark
Curly Blue Babe
Prima Dolly Violet

Every Day is a Good Day...

Wearing her new floral skirt and matching shoes,
Penny feels that this is a good day to go shopping. Of course,

This is Cloud 9 Bowl, wearing the stock outfit from Fancy Pansy. The bag is actually sold as a key chain at Target (It was easy to cut off the hardware used to hold keys.)

Second Thoughts

On their way to the opening night of a Halloween-themed
art show, Merry and Penny begin to question
their decision to walk past the cemetery.

Planning Ahead

Penny always chooses her outfit the night before, so she won't have to rush to get ready in the morning. The new sugar skull panties will go great with the monster-print dress--even though no one will know she's wearing them, except the other girls in the locker room when she's changing for her gym class.

Good Advice

You can take it from Penny, who learned the hard way:
if you know you are going to be home alone all night,
DO NOT read a scary book!

Penny is my Cloud 9 Bowl Blythe doll.

Many thanks to Angie Coppi (Goodnight Sweet Blythe on Facebook) who made the frightfully fun pillows on the sofa. There is also a matching sleep mask and throw blanket that I will show off soon.

Make a Wish

Blythe a Day on Flickr
Theme: Wishing

If you could have one Blythe wish, what would it be?

I would wish to find someone's Blythe collection for sale at a thrift shop at bargain basement prices! Then I would keep some and sell the rest, also at bargain prices, to spread the joy.
