Rainy Day Blues
It's raining, but you still have to walk the dog.
This Blythe doll is Vera Florentine wearing Nicky Lad's stock outfit (which I've had for ages and never used before. It's really cute, especially the slicker. The umbrella came from somewhere else...I don't remember where.) This picture is for the theme "Rainy Day Blues" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The one advantage of the very wet weather we've had this week is that I was able to take this picture!

Story Time
Okay, just one more photo for the #blythemuseumchallenge! I thought I was done with this, but then I came across this charming painting called "Story Time" by Charles Haigh-Wood. It seemed perfect to re-create with a Blythe doll (I used Vera Florentine because her hair is similar in cut and color to the girl in the painting.) The blue wall and the rug are fabric; the floor and the screen are paper. It's amazing to me how easily a Blythe doll can go from looking like a young adult, to looking like a child, just by changing her clothes and giving her a couple of props.

Letter to Santa
To be sure that her message to Santa doesn't get lost in the mail, Bree always sends him TWO letters.
These Blythe dolls are Vera Florentine (wearing Winterish Allure's stock outfit) and Lena Elena (wearing Dainty Meadow's stock outfit.)
I was super excited when I found this perfectly-sized mailbox recently at our local antique mall.

Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving!

Freedom
Find your wings and fly.
This is Vera Florentine, posing in a chalk board flat lay. I like her message very much and am trying to remember it daily.

Got Your Number
There are two things Jane hates: surprise parties, and being reminded of her age. All her friends know it, and still, THIS happened.

Feel the Sky
Sometimes, on a clear night, it almost feels like you can touch the sky.
This is Vera Florentine, star gazing for the theme "Feel the Sky" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a poster.

Bunny Love
Weeks of planning are about to pay off with Vera catching her very own pet bunny.
This is Vera Florentine with a rabbit trap she made herself with instructions she found on the internet. The bunny is by Schleich. This picture is for the theme "Honey Bunny" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

How Times Change
These dolls are Vera Florentine and Lil' Heart by Milk. Their hair color is almost exactly the same, but you can see how very different their makeup is. Do you think Vera looks too overdone, or does Milk look too plain? Or maybe they are both just right?

Saving Winter
They didn't want to say goodbye to winter or to Frosty, who was truly an outstanding snowman. So they saved his head (the only part of him that would fit in the refrigerator), turned the temperature all the way down, and hoped for the best.
Vera Florentine and Nellie Nibbles are the actresses in today's little drama.

What's On Your Doorstep?
It's so fun to come home and find a box waiting for you on the doorstep!
This is Vera Florentine. The fabulous door was a Christmas gift from my husband. It is big and heavy! The box contains a little gift I gave him for Valentine's Day last year. We play Pokemon Go together, so I gave him a little glass bottle with a Poke ball inside. You can see it by clicking HERE .

Hat Check
Before heading out the door, Vera always checks to be sure the angle of her beret is "just right."
This is Vera Florentine, wearing a hat I just knitted with her in mind, since I've decided that she always needs to wear a hat. She looks good in any strong color, not just orange or yellow.
I found this mirror recently at Barnes and Noble; it is one of a series of decor items based on the movie "Kiki's Delivery Service." The cat, mug, and flower jar are all glued in place...unfortunately! I was hoping I could move them around and use them individually in different photos.

Fall Feeling
We're embracing the feeling of fall, briefly, before going crazy with the Christmas decorations! Happy fall to all from Vera Florentine.
In case you are wondering...Vera is wearing a hat with a pumpkin and fall flowers on it, and standing in front of a vase with an arrangement of fall leaves, berries and squash. So no, that's not one big hat on her head!

Be Kind
This is another picture of Vera Florentine...looking good in another hat, which I knitted several years ago using the Ecoliere Beret pattern by Maggie Baird on Ravelry. The pattern is free, so give it a try if you are looking to knit a cute hat! This red hat came out a bit bigger than those in the pictures with the pattern; I assume it is because I used thicker yarn than she did. I like how slouchy it is, and it's nice to know that you can vary the look by using different types of yarn.

Vera Needs...Something
I've been thinking about my Vera Florentine Blythe doll, and wondering why I don't love her as much now as when I first saw her. Her makeup is very strong--orange cheeks, peach lips, yellow eyelids--and her stock outfit (orange hat and blouse with blue overalls) really goes well with her makeup. But when I took off her orange hat, she seemed rather drab. I just realized that is because her hair color is too plain, and without her hat SHE looks too plain! In addition, her short hairstyle with the very short bangs, curly ends, and flat top, is desperately in need of SOMETHING...

Grandpa Always Said...
Grandpa always said "You will reap what you sow." Now I understand what he meant!
This is Vera Florentine. I promise to change her out of her stock outfit soon.

Lazy Day
For most people, a lazy day would mean relaxing on the bed, reading a novel. For Vera, it means relaxing on the bed and studying her favorite subject: biology!
I found this cute dolly-sized biology set recently at Target. It is meant for 18" dolls, but it works well for Blythe too. For some reason, it is in a combination of English and French--thus, the spelling "Biologie" for the title of the book.
She is Vera Florentine.

Bath Time
The late summer weather is so perfect that even Vera's least-favorite outdoor chore is a pleasure. (For Max, it's always a pleasure!)
This is my new Blythe doll, Vera Florentine. I love her bright makeup and bright outfit; I also love her curly hair, which required no special effort to make it look pretty (unlike Home Sweet Home, whose hair still needs some work after several washings.) I couldn't figure out why she has a pea pod on her hat, until I was enlighted by my Facebook friend, Angie Coppi. Here is her comment about this Pinocchio-theme doll:
"In the original story of Pinocchio, the puppet is befriended by a wise pigeon, who teaches him to try eating something he has always hated: peas! And because he is hungry, Pinocchio eats them and love them. Another story with a moral for the children reading it."
