Fortune Cookie #3

I thought this must be the silliest Fortune Cookie fortune ever--until I saw how cheerful Daphne and Waverly look, posing for this picture. Let's all wear shoes that make us happy today!

These Blythe dolls are both Candy Carnival, wearing Blythe Happy dresses. Fortune Cookie series #3.

Shoes Me

This Blythe doll is Prima Dolly London, wearing a Blythe Happy dress. Thank you Angie for giving me the idea for this pun! I was really scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to come up with another picture, and this is perfect, because we have a lot of shoes! This picture is #19 in my Valentine's Day 2020: Kitschy Valentines series.

Shoe Obsession

Dolly shoes: so cute, so costly!

When I started collecting Blythes, I planned to make most of their clothes myself...but I didn't think about the shoes, until my first girl came wearing a pair of black boots that simply did not go with everything. She needed more shoes. I actually tried to make shoes out of felt, without success...I can make bedroom slippers out of felt, but not regular shoes (although I have seen at least one talented person make shoes from felt on Etsy, I just wasn't/am not ready to invest the time and effort into figuring that out.) So, I had to start buying shoes. I found them on eBay, Blythe Kingdom, Etsy, and Facebook groups, and I have gradually amassed quite a nice collection of tiny footwear. With the average price around $20 a pair, if I see any that I like that are less than that, I snap them right up!

Shoe Love

Everyone loves something. Ellie loves shoes.

Ellie is my Ichigo Heaven Blythe doll. How did she get her name, you ask? Here's the story: I was in a Blythe sundries swap in a group on Facebook. My swap partner had just gotten a new doll and was talking to me about what to name her. She was considering a few names, but Ellie was her favorite, and as soon as she seemed sure about it, I went ahead and made a dress for the doll with the name Ellie embroidered on it, to send as part of the swap. Well, wouldn't you know, my partner decided not to go with the name Ellie after all!  Since I had this nice dress on my hands, my next new doll got the dress and the name.

Flats or Heels?

Blythe a Day June 5, 2015
Decisions, Decisions

Poor Heidi can't make up her mind which shoes to wear today. The heels look prettier, but the flats are more comfortable. Decisions, decisions!

New Shoes

There is one thing I don't know how to make for my dolls--SHOES. I love little dolly shoes, and with close to 30 Blythes in my collection, I need to have a collection of shoes that will go with all their different outfits as well.

Recently I purchased these shoes from actongtong on eBay. The seller is located in Hong Kong, so before I made the purchase I inquired if he would offer combined shipping if I bought several pairs of shoes. He quickly replied that yes, he would, so I purchased 7 pairs. I was happy with how fast they arrived (they only took 11 days to reach me in the U.S.), and I was very happy to see that the seller included a free pair of shoes!

Blythecon Goodies

My life is returning to normal after our whirlwind, one-day trip from Virginia to New York for Blythecon. I've gotten caught up on my sleep, so this morning I took pictures of the goodies my dollies got there.

The picture below shows the contents of one goodie bag--but since my husband came too, I got TWO goodie bags! Most of the items were the same in both bags, with the exception of my very favorite thing that I found in one bag...it's the pair of boots in the lower right corner of the picture. The one thing I wanted to buy at Blythecon was shoes for the dolls, so I was super excited to find these boots in my bag. They appear to be actual stock from a Blythe. They are dark pink, and besides the color, they are identical to the boots that came with my Cousin Olivia.

Candy claimed them, since she was my Blythecon girl!!

One of the vendor booths had shoes from Jemgirl Creations, which I eagerly inspected. (I was hoping to find her clear shoes filled with candy sprinkles...maybe someone got them before I did! I'll have to get them from her Etsy store one of these days.) I came away with a new pair of shoes for each of my Middies, plus a sparkly black high-heeled pair for my Neos to fight over. Hope is wearing them at the moment because they are perfect with her scissors dress!

I wish I had a raffle prize to show off here, but alas, we had to leave before all the prizes had been drawn, and my number hadn't been called yet, boo hoo. The custom dolls that were given away were all so wonderful, I know the winners must be floating on air! Nevertheless, I had a great time and I'm so happy I was able to attend Blythcon New York 2013.
