You Can Quote Me

Heidi never misses an opportunity to quote a well-known saying.

April Fools

Taking advantage of their sister's tendency to sleep like a log, the girls pull off an epic April Fool's prank.

Playful Raindrops is sleeping; the others are, from left to right, Cadence Majorette, Stella Savannah, and Cousin Olivia. The gorgeous quilt, pillow and sleep mask are by Angie Coppi of Goodnight Sweet Blythe on Facebook. The coffee shop and sidewalk is a photo printed on fabric that I found on eBay.

Always Fresh

Claire loves to shop at the farmer's market at the park. The vegetables are always fresh, and best of all, there is no preposterous packaging!

Cousin Olivia is the salesperson and I Love You It's True is the shopper. The market stand is a Barbie toy. For the theme "Preposterous Packaging" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

As I was adding the above photo to the Flickr group, it I thought it might look better cropped to showcase the market stand, so here it is, cropped. I like the second version better (sorry Heidi/Cousin Olivia!), but it is starting to look grainy from being cropped so much.

A Day at the Park

"Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat."

Where's Heidi?

This is my take on the theme, "Where's Waldo?" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. By poking around in our attic, I was able to find lots of toys for this picture...we haven't gotten rid of any of the kid's Beanie Babies! I was also able to use some handmade dolls that I keep on display all the time (the two Raggedy Ann-style dolls, and the black doll with the big smile came from craft fairs; the mermaid on the left is one that I made.)

I think this picture would make a good jigsaw puzzle!

Heidi, my Cousin Olivia Blythe doll, isn't too hard to find in the middle of the photo.

It's Spring!

The calendar says it's spring...and the daffodils say it's spring...but the temperature, not so much!

It was snowing here just two days ago, but yesterday, when I looked out the window and saw the beautiful daffodils, I knew it was time for a "spring" photo. I gathered up an armful of blonde Blythes and went outside to set them up near the flowers. I decided to pose them in their stands because the wind was really blowing, and they were all in danger of tipping over at any moment!

They are Playful Raindrops, Mrs. Retro Mama, Cousin Olivia, and Prima Dolly Marigold.

That's Entertainment

Who needs TV when there's a new jigsaw puzzle to put together?

These Blythe dolls are Cousin Olivia (left) and Playful Raindrops (right). Their hair color is exactly the same, but their skin tones are quite different. When I saw this Japanese puzzle with such tiny pieces at the local Barnes and Noble bookstore, I had to buy it for them--they've made good progress on it already!

An Apple a Day

Even if an apple a day won't keep the doctor away, apples are good for you. I did some quick research and discovered that they are full of vitamins C and A, and they are high in fiber. Best of all, they are delicious! Macintosh is our favorite. What's yours?

Picnic Time

Our favorite kind of weather is picnic weather!

Cousin Olivia, Ice Rune, and Nellie Nibbles get ready for their picnic. This is one of those pictures where the placement of the dolls, plus the camera angle, resulted in the girl in the back looking much smaller than the same-sized girl in the front.

Hello Yellow (and Blonde)

As I continue to photograph my Blythe collection arranged by hair color, I've now come to the yellow/blonde-haired girls. Aren't they pretty?

Cousin Olivia and Playful Raindrops have hair that is almost exactly the same color (PR's is just the tiniest bit darker under certain light). Ice Rune's hair is slightly more orange than theirs. I had a hard time deciding where Mrs. Retro Mama fit into this lineup! Her super-bright yellow hair really makes her stand out.

From my sewing room, a small voice can be heard: "Hey! I have blonde hair too!!!" That would be the gorgeous Dauphine Dream, who still resides in her box. I didn't have the time or the energy to release her before taking this picture. Soon, though...I plan to take her with me to Colonial Williamsburg in August, when I meet up with another Blythe collector there. DD's stock dress will fit perfectly into the time period of that restored historical area.

Here are their stock names, from left to right:

I Love You It's True
Kenner
Cousin Olivia
Playful Raindrops
Ice Rune
Prima Dolly Marigold
Mrs. Retro Mama

Contrast

There is beauty in contrast.

These are my darkest and lightest Blythe dolls: Cherry Beach Sunset, whose skin tone is "mocha", and Cousin Olivia, whose skin tone is "very fair". I saw them side-by-side on the shelf and needed to photograph them together!

Good News

Clutching the letter from her friend in her hand, Heidi smiled and nodded in agreement as a Bible verse came to mind: "Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land." (Proverbs 25:25)

Picnic in the Park

When the weather is this nice, it would just be WRONG to stay inside!

Best Friends

Be slow to fall into friendship,
but when thou art in, continue firm and constant.

Head to Toe

Blythe a Day on Flickr
Theme: Head to Toe

Heidi's skin is so fair, she has to protect it by covering herself from head to toe every time she goes outside, even in the middle of summer. "I do get a bit hot wearing long sleeves all year round, but that's just the price I pay for beauty!"

This is Cousin Olivia.

Favorite Colors

Blythe a Day on Flickr, 3/23/16
Colors

Jubilee has become quite well known as a portrait painter. When asked what are her favorite colors, she always replies, "All of them!"

All of the little portraits in this photo are ATC's (Artist Trading Cards) made by my friend and fellow Blythe enthusiast, Sara Ricer ( mountains and clouds ). We traded ATC's about a year ago. I love her colorful style!

Jubilee (with her back to the camera) is Simply Thumpty Thump. Her subject is Heidi, aka Cousin Olivia.
