Quotable Quote
Who was John Wooden (October 14, 1910 – June 4, 2010), and what does he have to do with Blythe dolls?
The answer is: he was an American basketball player and head coach at the University of California, Los Angeles. Wooden was renowned for his short, simple inspirational messages to his players. These often were directed at how to be a success in life as well as in basketball. He has NOTHING to do with Blythe dolls!
This picture is for the theme "Wooden" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. Even though my house is full of many wooden objects, I couldn't think of a satisfying way to use any of them in a doll picture. When I Googled the word "wooden," the first thing that appeared was a list of quotes from John Wooden--and I always love a good quote! This doll is Jane, my Kenner Blythe.

Show Me a Sign
Jane knows a sign when she sees one.
Jane is my Kenner Blythe doll.
I made these hearts for a blog project in 2012; a friend who knows I love hearts suggested that I should do a blog for which I would make a heart every day and post it. So I did! It was really fun, but as with all projects like this, there were days/weeks when I couldn't manage a heart every day, so I would make up for the lost days by mass-producing hearts for a couple of different projects. You can find that blog here: 365 Sewn Hearts.

Happy 2018!
We wish you a year of health and happiness in 2018!
A common theme for a new year is the contrast between the new and the old, so I've made this picture with my oldest Blythe, Jane, my Kenner. The "new" is represented by the baby-like Sonny Angel.
This picture is for the theme "old/new" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I'm going to try to do a photo for each theme, using a different sheet of scrapbook paper for the background of each one. I have a big pad of assorted papers (I think there are 64 different designs), so I hope to be able to find something that will work for each day's theme. The limitation to scrapbook paper is the size--each sheet is just 12"x12", so there will be a lot of close-ups and head shots this month!

Jane in Pink
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.

Shoe Confusion
Jane was almost ready for the party, when suddenly
she was paralyzed by confusion.
Which shoes go better with her outfit?

Which shoes go better with her outfit?
The black, or the gold???
This is my Kenner Blythe doll. Jane always has a dazed and confused look to her, so she is perfect for this sort of photo.

Portrait of Jane
Jane was in total shock when she saw the gift her sisters gave her:
a life-size portrait of herself, painted by a famous artist,
in honor of her one-year anniversary in the family.
Now THAT'S a gift!
This sweet Kenner Blythe did indeed come into my dolly family one year ago, on Christmas day. This year, my daughter Jenna painted her portrait for my Christmas gift! I love it!
The other two Blythes in this photo are Mod Molly, far left, and Sadie Sprinkle.

She has never understood why her sisters refuse to call her "Your Majesty", but to keep the peace, she allows them to call her "Jane".

Your Mother Should Know

Your Mother Should Know
Stepping outside, Jane saw a shocking sight. "BOYS! I think your mother should know that you are running around without your pants on! I'm going to call her right now!"
The Sonny Angels just laughed and ran away. Jane never thought angels could be so naughty.
This shocked-looking Blythe is Jane, my Kenner.

Telephone
"April, your little toy telephone is so cute!" said Jane. "It looks just like the one our grandmother had, back in the 1960's--I've seen it in pictures."
These dolls are Jane, my Kenner Blythe, and April, my Nellie Nibbles Middie Blythe.

Snow White
Blythe a Day on Flickr, 1/2/16
Gidget fears that if she doesn't sunbathe every day, she will lose her tan and become as pale as her sister Jane, whom she secretly refers to as "Snow White".
Jane is my new Kenner Blythe; Gidget is Cherry Beach Sunset.

Under the Tree
Christmas wouldn't have been Christmas without a new doll under the tree...and there was an old one too! In addition to the beautiful Cherry Beach Sunset (my first tanned Blythe), there was a sweet Kenner girl waiting for me! Cherry Beach says she doesn't mind waiting a few days to be de-boxed, so more about Jane!
Yes, I did know about her in advance; my husband and I both agreed that the best way to make this happen was for me to choose the doll. I found her in the Kenner group on Facebook.
I wanted her to LOOK like a gift on Christmas morning, so I made her a new dress with matching hair clip and shoulder bag; and because she is special, she got special panties with her name on them! I chose the classic name "Jane" for this classic doll. When I purchased her, she came with two vintage dresses, so those are in her box, along with two pretty dollies for her amusement--blonde, like Jane herself.
My daughter is an artist, so when she asked what I would like for Christmas, I requested some sort of a background for dolly photos. Here's Jane posing in front of the beautiful acrylic painting by my daughter Jenna.
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.
