That's No Yolk

This beautiful Blythe doll is Bow Wow Trad. I made the dress; the fried egg hair clip is from missdoolittles on Etsy. This picture is #5 in my Valentine's Day 2020: Kitschy Valentines series.

Halloween Besties

"Every day is Halloween, isn't it? For some of us."
          --Tim Burton

These Blythes are, starting at the top and going clockwise: Mod Molly, Bow Wow Trad, Chocolat Blythe, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, Cloud 9 Bowl, Milky Way Sugar, Sarah Shades, and Enchanted Petal. Day 24 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Even though the above quote has nothing to do with Halloween, it is perfect for this picture so I went with it! The Blythes are, starting at the top and going clockwise: Mod Molly, Bow Wow Trad, Chocolat Blythe, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, Cloud 9 Bowl, Milky Way Sugar, Sarah Shades, and Enchanted Petal. Day 24 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Moonlight

There is magic in the night
when pumpkins glow by moonlight.

The Witching Hour

'Tis "the witching time of night,"
Orbed is the moon and bright.
And the stars they glisten, glisten,
Seeming with bright eyes to listen-
For what listen they?

                          --John Keats

Monochromatic Halloween

Halloween is spookier in black and white.

This Blythe doll is Bow Wow Trad, posing with some props from Target that I've collected over the past couple of years. I'm not sure who made the dress, which I found second-hand in a Facebook group. Day 8 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Williams(burg) Doll

I love taking pictures of my dolls, but sometimes I'm short of ideas; that's why I like the Blythe a Day groups on Flickr, because every day there is a photo prompt. This month, all the prompts are song titles with the word "doll" in them, and I've found them quite challenging. In fact, I didn't think I would participate because I wasn't coming up with many ideas when I first read the list. About a week into the month I decided to make an effort, and I have surprised myself by coming up with a lot of appropriate pictures. Today's picture is another example of me surprising myself: the theme is "William's Doll" (I've never heard of that song) and initially I planned to skip it, asking myself "Who could come up with anything for that???" I guess my subconscious was at work, because I a few days later, it occurred it me that I live in WILLIAMSburg, Virginia, and I happen to have this wooden sign with the city and state stenciled on it. So, I actually managed to come up with this picture for the theme William's Doll!

This Blythe doll is Bow Wow Trad, and she is wearing an outfit I made as a thank you gift for a friend who sent me a lovely package of holy cards, photos, a medal, and an embroidered hanky from her recent pilgrimage to holy sites in France (thank you, Stephanie! The package is in the mail!) The picture below shows it a bit better.

Make Mine Black

"Women who wear black lead colorful lives."
                                    --Neiman Marcus

This Blythe doll is Bow Wow Trad, posing for the theme "Black" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The dress she is wearing is by Kookanoid (I don't think she is making doll clothes any more); the two shorter dresses are stock (Prima Dolly London, and UFO A Gogo); I made the paw print dress. I loved doing this color-focused picture; it was fun to go through the doll clothes and see what we have that is black and white. It made me realize something too--we need more head wear options!

Happy Cinco de Mayo 2019

Veronica managed to land a spot in the mariachi band playing the maracas for the Cinco de Mayo celebration. She doesn't know much about music--or Mexico--but she couldn't miss the opportunity to wear that fantastic sombrero.

I found the sombrero at Hobby Lobby. It's meant for 18" dolls, but I'm loving it on Blythe! I couldn't leave the store without it. This Blythe is Bow Wow Trad. The maracas came in a set of Barbie musical instruments that my friend Susan gave me. Thanks Susan!

Fishy Fun

Hey everybody, gather around! The new aquarium is set up, and the fish are very entertaining!

I put this picture together for the theme "profile" in the Blythe Weekly group on Flickr. I found this aquarium at a toy store about a year ago (it took me long enough to use it in a picture, didn't it?) I got a surprise when I picked it up today--on the bottom, the directions say to fill it will water and the fish will reach full size in 72 hours. WHAT?? The fish will grow?? So cool! I couldn't wait 72 hours to take this picture--I had everything set up and ready to go--but it's  probably better with the fish small, anyway, so you can see Curly Blue Babe behind the tank. The girl on the left is Pretty Peony; the girl on the right is Bow Wow Trad.

Procrastinator

Portrait of a procrastinator: School starts in 20 minutes, and Veronica is scrambling to finish her homework.
This Blythe doll is Bow Wow Trad, posing for the theme "Student" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. All the school-related props are made for Our Generation dolls, sold at Target.

Bling Bling Party Fur

I'm here--let's get this party started!

With the help of her gold jumpsuit, sparkly disco ball, and big fur coat, Bow Wow Trad has no trouble pulling off the theme "Bling Bling Party Fur" (for the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.)

The disco ball was in the goodie bag I got at Blythe Con Brooklyn in 2017. Cute, right? The coat is from Barbie.

This gold jumpsuit from All Gold in One is a piece of stock clothing my friend Susan sent me a while ago. I love it so much, and I was so happy to see that today's theme would be the perfect time to showcase it. Thanks again, Susan!

Cinco de Mayo 2018

She's Mexican for a day.

This Blythe doll is Bow Wow Trad. For the third time, I've made a Cinco de Mayo picture using the same background and the same dress, because I just don't have many Mexican-looking props! You can see the others here: 20162015 (I guess I forgot to take a picture for it last year!)

Close Up

Her lips are sealed.

This is my Bow Wow Trad Blythe doll, for the theme "Close Up" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. This is another one of the buttons I collected when I was in college. I used to wear one or more of them every day.

Pets

Love isn't love until you give it away.

This is Veronica, my Bow Wow Trad Blythe doll. Her dog is Gidget, a McDonald's Happy Meal toy from the movie "The Secret Life of Pets".

Plaid

Did someone say "plaid"?

These two cuties are Bow Wow Trad (left) and Stella Savannah (right), both wearing parts of their stock outfits. Since their stock is plaid, it was only right that they should get to model for today's "plaid" theme.

Read a Book

Never put off until tomorrow
the book you can read today.

In a book I once read, a father and daughter ran a book store. Every afternoon they would close the store for an hour, make tea, and choose books from the shelves to read. I think the world would be a happier place if everyone took a reading break every day!

You can easily make little books for your dolls, like the ones I made in this photo. Just google "book covers" and choose what you like. Save the images to your computer, then reduce them to dolly size using a photo editing site or Microsoft Word (which I used). Print them onto card stock and cut out. I filled the book with pages that I cut from an old dictionary. A little glue along the binding edge holds them in place.

Perfectly Matchy

This is Veronica, my Bow Wow Trad Blythe doll, modeling a new outfit for a friend. I'm so pleased with how pretty her face looks in this photo...and I know that sounds funny, because all Blythe dolls look somewhat similar, right? But sometimes I look at the face on one of them and I just swoon. I guess that's why I have approximately 5 million Blythes, and counting!
