Making a List

It’s almost December, so it’s time to think about your Christmas list. Ivy and I both want the same thing this year—a new phone. What’s at the top of your list?

Be Happy

It's a great day to be happy right where you are.

Prima Dolly Amaryllis: nothing can compare to that bright green hair. This is a chalkboard flat lay. I drew the flower design with liquid chalk markers.

Go Green

Merry Christmas from the annual meeting of the Green Hair and Eyes Club!

These Blythe dolls are: Simply Peppermint (left), Cream Cheese and Jam (right), and Prima Dolly Amaryllis (back). They are perched on a wonderful oversized Christmas chair that I found recently...but it this picture doesn't show it off as I had hoped. Time for another picture!

Perfect Balance

Practice is going great on their balancing act for the holiday talent show. They only drop a few things now (instead of the whole lot!)

Prima Dolly Amaryllis (left) and Playful Raindrops (right) are wearing cute dresses and hats from my friend Amy. Aren't they adorable! Thanks Amy! The bright, fun colors and prints told me that they should be in a playful-looking photo.

Christmas Lineup

Are you ready? Christmas starts NOW!

These girls who CANNOT WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS are, from left to right: Cream Cheese and Jam, Precocious Candy's Mushroom, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, Cinema Princess, and Enchanted Petal. I found these cute hats at Paper Source, and I made the dresses.

Halloween Besties

"Every day is Halloween, isn't it? For some of us."
          --Tim Burton

These Blythes are, starting at the top and going clockwise: Mod Molly, Bow Wow Trad, Chocolat Blythe, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, Cloud 9 Bowl, Milky Way Sugar, Sarah Shades, and Enchanted Petal. Day 24 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Even though the above quote has nothing to do with Halloween, it is perfect for this picture so I went with it! The Blythes are, starting at the top and going clockwise: Mod Molly, Bow Wow Trad, Chocolat Blythe, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, Cloud 9 Bowl, Milky Way Sugar, Sarah Shades, and Enchanted Petal. Day 24 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Read Now, Work Later

"I'll worry about the spider webs later...right now, I've got a book to read."

Prima Dolly Amaryllis has always been a dedicated reader. Her big chair came from a local antique mall. Day 21 of 31 Days of Halloween.

????

What's that noise under my bed?

Poor Prima Dolly Amaryllis is in for a scare when she sees that monster book (which I made from a matchbox.) The cute bat coverlet and coordinating pillow were made by Angie Coppi of Goodnight Sweet Blythe.

Pumpkin Festival

Come one, come all to the annual Pumpkin Festival! Wear a costume or come as you are. There will be games, pumpkin carving, scarecrow making, and pumpkin pie for everyone.

Prima Dolly Amaryllis, Middie Puchippu Chappu Pepa, Sarah Shades, and two Littlest Pet Shop Blythe dolls enjoy the festivities. The jack-o-lantern water tower is part of my daughter's Halloween town, made by Department 56. Day 18 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Ivy's Favorite Color

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

This is Ivy, my Prima Dolly Amaryllis Blythe doll. These cute props came from Target. They always seem to have a good selection of seasonal decorations that don't cost too much, so I can get them all!

Just Another Day in Pleasantville

Welcome to Pleasantville, where the skies are always blue, the animals can talk, and kindness rules the day.

My sweet dolly friend Angie Coppi sent me a Christmas package full of wonderful goodies; two of them were the inspiration for this photo: the beautiful Christmas tree hat by KaChu on Etsy, and the sweet little bird ornament. Thank you Angie! More pictures to come!

Jolly Old St. Nicholas

Ivy is proud to be known for her extensive collection of St. Nicholas statues and figurines.

This Blythe is Prima Dolly Amaryllis. The only santa that is of note in this picture is the one in back on the left; he was made by a local artist, Nancy Thomas. She has a cool little store in this area, and sells on a website too. She designed an ornament for the White House Christmas tree in 2007.

All You Need Is...

LOVE. It's all you need.
It was surprisingly difficult to decide what to do for the theme "love". There are so many ways I could have gone with it, but most of them felt too much like Valentine's Day to me. In the end, it was the simple solution that worked the best.

Simply Lilac, Prima Dolly London, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, and Cloud 9 Bowl.

Blythe Rainbow

For quite some time, I've wanted to redo this picture of a line of rainbow-hued Blythes. I use this picture not only here on my blog, but also as the header for my Etsy shop and on my business cards. When the theme "rainbow" appeared in the Blythe a Day group on flickr this month, I knew the time had come to finally do it!

The picture below may look similar to the one at the top of my blog, but there are two main differences: all the dolls in this new picture are completely stock (because I realized that I prefer the stock Blythes, and that is now the focus of my collection), and their outfits and stands better reflect the rainbow theme. Also, I have become a better photographer and photo editor since the first picture! This new one is brighter and just overall BETTER than the first! I took care to arrange their hair,  arms and legs, and to line them up more carefully than I did the first time. I've come to see how important little details are, like making sure their hair is out of their face, and they are looking at the camera.

My Blythe collection has grown quite a bit since I took the first picture, so I was able to use a different doll for every color...except orange. Cloud 9 Bowl is so perfect for that little slice of the rainbow that she had to make a repeat appearance.

Here are their stock names, from left to right:

Cinema Princess
Cloud 9 Bowl
Mrs. Retro Mama
Prima Dolly Amaryllis
Simply Sparkly Spark
Curly Blue Babe
Prima Dolly Violet

Choose Happiness

For me, collecting Blythe dolls is about choosing happiness. Dressing them, brushing their hair, taking their photographs; sewing, knitting, and crafting for them...just makes me happy!

Clockwise, starting at the top: Mandy Cotton Candy, Prima Dolly Amaryllis, Ice Rune, Snowflake Sonata.

Green Hair

I've already done line-ups of my blue-haired and pink-haired girls; today it's the green-haired girls' time to shine! Again, I've put each doll's abbreviation at the bottom of the picture, using the abbreviations from the "My Doll Collection for Blythe" app. Here are their full stock names, from left to right:

Prima Dolly Melon
Simply Peppermint
Miss Sally Rice (twice!)
Enchanted Petal
Prima Dolly Amaryllis

While dressing them and brushing their hair, I came to the realization that my least-favorite hairstyle is short hair that has a center part (sorry, Hope!) The center-part hair always has to be held back with a clip or two to keep it out of the doll's face, and that's harder to do--in a way that looks cute--with short hair.

Fashion Favorite

A simple sleeveless dress with a fitted waist, wide skirt and an interesting hem...fun shoes...something in the hair...that's the recipe for our favorite fashion style.

I had so much fun editing this picture (using PicMonkey) that I've included two bonus edits, below! The theme for today is "Fashion Favorite." The girls kindly agreed that the dresses I make for them are their favorites! Thanks, girls!

I love this one that looks like a Polaroid. Since the sides are cut off, it has a very spontaneous quality to it.

Who are these charming girls, you ask? From left to right: Can Can Cat, Ms. Retro Mama, Simply Thumpty Thump, and Prima Dolly Amaryllis
