Popsicles

Is it summer for you yet?

These Blythe dolls are Prima Dolly Marigold and Prima Dolly Peony. After doing yoga, they always enjoy a frozen treat! The swimsuit on the left came from RorruHandmade on Etsy; the one on the right is the stock outfit for Saffy. The popsicles are an image I printed from the internet and cut out--they look fairly realistic, don't they? I wanted this picture to have the feel of an advertisement...so why didn't I capitalize the "p"?

Yoga

It's a beautiful day for some beach yoga. Come out and join us!

These limber Blythe dolls are Prima Dolly Marigold (left) and Prima Dolly Peony (right.) They invented this yoga pose all by themselves! All parts of the background are made of fabric, except the construction paper sun which I was happy to be able to re-use after making it for a picture last week, in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Career Goal

She enjoys the beach so much, Merry thinks she will try selling sea shells down by the sea shore.

This is Prima Dolly Marigold, one of my older Blythe dolls. I usually reach for a new girl when it's photo time, so she is one of many who don't get as much exposure as I wish they did. Her sunny coloring is perfect for this "sea shore" theme in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Skate Date in Beijing

With their hearts set on the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, these girls are on the ice morning, noon, and night.

For the theme "Skate Date," (in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr) I rounded up my three girls who came dressed as ice skaters, and added Prima Dolly Marigold to the mix because I have an extra skating costume...which happens to be from Skate Date herself! My dolly friend Susan gifted me the Skate Date stock along with a lot of other Blythe clothes recently. Thanks Susan!

They are, from left to right: Prima Dolly Marigold, Simply Bubble Boom, Simply Sparkly Spark, and Simply Thumpty Thump.

It's Spring!

The calendar says it's spring...and the daffodils say it's spring...but the temperature, not so much!

It was snowing here just two days ago, but yesterday, when I looked out the window and saw the beautiful daffodils, I knew it was time for a "spring" photo. I gathered up an armful of blonde Blythes and went outside to set them up near the flowers. I decided to pose them in their stands because the wind was really blowing, and they were all in danger of tipping over at any moment!

They are Playful Raindrops, Mrs. Retro Mama, Cousin Olivia, and Prima Dolly Marigold.

Hello Yellow (and Blonde)

As I continue to photograph my Blythe collection arranged by hair color, I've now come to the yellow/blonde-haired girls. Aren't they pretty?

Cousin Olivia and Playful Raindrops have hair that is almost exactly the same color (PR's is just the tiniest bit darker under certain light). Ice Rune's hair is slightly more orange than theirs. I had a hard time deciding where Mrs. Retro Mama fit into this lineup! Her super-bright yellow hair really makes her stand out.

From my sewing room, a small voice can be heard: "Hey! I have blonde hair too!!!" That would be the gorgeous Dauphine Dream, who still resides in her box. I didn't have the time or the energy to release her before taking this picture. Soon, though...I plan to take her with me to Colonial Williamsburg in August, when I meet up with another Blythe collector there. DD's stock dress will fit perfectly into the time period of that restored historical area.

Here are their stock names, from left to right:

I Love You It's True
Kenner
Cousin Olivia
Playful Raindrops
Ice Rune
Prima Dolly Marigold
Mrs. Retro Mama

Second Thoughts

On their way to the opening night of a Halloween-themed
art show, Merry and Penny begin to question
their decision to walk past the cemetery.

Pot of Gold

Jubilee discovered the legendary Pot of Gold right in her own backyard! But when she tried to keep it a secret, she came face-to-face with the truth: she is a terrible liar.

Which Came First?

Blythe a Day on Flickr 1/22/15
Chicken

Merry ponders the age-old question: "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"

Merry is my Prima Dolly Marigold Blythe doll. I made this dress to go with the egg hairclip I got from MissDoolittles on Etsy. Merry seems to be the only doll who can pull off this look though; I tried this outfit on several other girls, but it just didn't look as good on them as it does on Merry--her hair is just the perfect color for it!

Circles

Look for Circles Day

Merry's deep thought for the day:

"It's easy to find that which you seek...as long as you know where to look."

Today she looked for circles, and easily found them in her wardrobe, and on the wall.

Everyone knows what to expect for breakfast when Merry is cooking...because eggs are the only thing she knows how to make!

Coins

And to think, Merry's sisters all laughed at her when she said she was going to grow a money tree from the coins in her piggy bank!

Merry always likes to wear a silly outfit when she's taking pictures of people. It makes them smile bigger!

Caffeine Addiction

Blythe-a-Day March 27, 2015 Caffeine

Merry makes no secret of her caffeine addiction. She has decorated her house in a "coffee" theme, and she even has a living, breathing pet coffee bean from Brazil! Yes, pet coffee beans are quite rare and expensive; but for Merry, money is no object when pursuing her obsession.

Merry is my Prima Dolly Marigold Blythe doll. The artwork above the table is an ATC made by my friend Susan (her blog is HERE). The idea for the coffee bean plushie came from Susan too; she just really loves coffee!

Flying

Blythe-a-Day March 7 2015 Fly Like a Girl

Merry found a pretty black and white feather on the ground. When she holds it in her hand, she imagines that she is flying!

Butterflies

Blythe-a-Day Feb. 17, 2015

Merry gets a happy feeling in her heart when she wears her butterfly dress.

This picture is not at all what I planned to do for the "butterfly" theme--I had a mental image of a doll chasing a butterfly with a net, which meant I would need to make a dolly-sized butterfly net...and I soon realized that I didn't have time to mess around with that, so I had to go with what I already had on hand. This is one of the more interesting discoveries I've made as I take a doll picture every day: things often turn out differently than I imagined they would, but they usually turn out okay!
