May 2019 Calendar Page

Tomorrow is the first day of my favorite month of the year: May! The weather is always so beautiful here during May, and I try to appreciate and enjoy each day while it lasts. 

Here's the new calendar page for my phone. Yesterday, I actually took my Blythe doll, UFO A Go Go, to the Short Pump Mall in Richmond, Virginia and took this picture there. I rarely take my dolls out in public, but I knew the mall would not be too crowded on a Monday, so I could take a picture without attracting much attention. She's wearing a vintage Skipper dress paired with a sweater I recently knitted. If you like this picture, feel free to use it on your phone too! Welcome Home

"It's been a long week of travel for me! So many flights; so much jostling about! I started in Japan, then flew to Chicago, where I was lost for a day or two. It's a relief to have reached my final destination at last: Williamsburg, Virginia. I'm home! And look--they're expecting me!"

I'm always listening for interesting names. "Zara" has come to my attention a couple of times recently; it's really pretty and unusual, just like Tsumori Spirit--so that's her name. 

I've had the light box tucked away in my doll room for many months, but I haven't had just the right occasion to use it, until now. It really makes this picture work.

Tsumori Spirit

Tsumori Spirit Dazzling Blythe Together at Last has finally arrived, and she is glorious! She has a LOT of hair (this is how it looks straight from the box, with some brushing; I will probably do a spa in a day or two.) It is composed of blue and purple strands mixed together, and the overall color is a gorgeous shade of periwinkle, which looks more blue or more purple depending on the light. It's a nice surprise, even though I was expecting it to be purple, like the lining of her coat, based on a picture of a prototype I saw. In this photo, she is showing off her eye chips that are my favorite pair: special light green.

She has a lot going on: a lot of hair, a lot of pieces in her stock outfit, and a lot of colors too. I'm looking forward to taking more pictures and exploring different aspects of her look.

Make a Friend

Strangers are just friends waiting to happen.

I waited all day yesterday for my new doll, Tsumori, to arrive, but she never showed up. Tracking says she is on her way, so hopefully I will have her today or tomorrow. In the meantime, Prima Dolly Cassis gets to enjoy another day in front of the camera! The weather is so nice that I took her outside with a pretty dolly bench I found recently at the local antique mall. I set up this little scene on the walkway in front of my house. 

The Sunny Side

Cassis says, "Keep on the sunny side of life."

While awaiting the arrival of Tsumori Spirit Dazzling Blythe Together at Last (she's supposed to be delivered sometime within the next few hours!), I'm distracting myself by photographing this lovely girl, Prima Dolly Cassis. She was my birthday doll this year. In this picture she is wearing the stock dress from Candy Carnival. 

The Flavor of Easter

We had a very chocolate-y Easter. Should a girl be expected to choose just one? 

Allegra Champagne chose the dark chocolate chick.

Pink Spring

Yesterday's "Happy Spring!" picture got a lot of positive comments on Facebook. One person wondered how it would look with a pink background. Since I hadn't dismantled the arrangement of Unicorn Maiden with flowers, eggs and ribbon, I just slipped a sheet of pink paper underneath her and took the picture again. Here it is! It's pretty, but I must say that I prefer the black background for the contrast it provides. What do you think?

I couldn't resist taking one more picture of Unicorn Maiden, bedecked with flowers, ribbon, and Easter eggs. She is so perfectly lovely.

This is Unicorn Maiden. She is one of my favorite dolls, but I've taken only a few pictures of her, because I bought her a special outfit (the cow girl stock outfit from Darling Diva) and after photographing her in that, I haven't wanted to change her clothes, because she looks SO CUTE as a cow girl! But today I realized that I should play with her before the two new girls show up; Tsumori Blythe and Picnic Al Fresco are on their way here, and I'm sure they will claim my attention for a while. 

No Fishing

Pearl is at her wits' end trying to keep the cats away from the aquarium. Not surprisingly, the sign she made didn't help at all.

Last week I posted a picture with this aquarium, just after adding water to it. Over the course of several days, the fish expand; here they are at their maximum size. I liked them better small! 

This is how my house would be if we had an aquarium, because we now have five curious cats!

Grand Opening

It is a picture-perfect day for the grand opening of the Smiley Waffle ice cream stand at the park. Opening day special: large cones are half price!

These girls are, from left to right: Snowflake Sonata, Smiley Waffle, Nellie Nibbles, and Yellow Marshmallow. When Smiley Waffle first arrived here, I did an ice cream themed picture, so when I saw that today's theme in the Blythe a Day group was "Ice Cream," I thought I would skip it. But...a new girl needs more pictures, so I tried to think of something different. I realized that her box looks like an ice cream stand, so I removed the plastic window from the front of the box, and everything came together cutely.

Read More Books

Television is fine, but books are better.

Prima Dolly Cassis appears to have an extensive reading list. I love to read, too; in fact, on Goodreads.com I've challeneged myself to read 100 books in 2019. I've finished 34 of them so far.

April Fools
