Smell the Roses

Today I resolve to smell the roses, pet the kitties, enjoy the coffee, get lost in a book, and play with dolls.

Unicorn Maiden, how I love your pink eye chips!

Bunny Trail

In the weeks since Sweet Bubbly Bear (right) joined my dolly collection, I've wanted to take her photo with Unicorn Maiden (left)--and here it is. Each of these pink haired beauties is gorgeous in her own way. I'm so happy to have them both.

Look Inside

We all have questions. Isn't it nice that a fortune cookie can tell us where to find the answers?

This beautiful Blythe doll is Unicorn Maiden. She's wearing a dress we recently received from the Blythe Pay It Forward group on Facebook; thank you Kimberly Cook for organizing the giveaway, and La Rose Ray for donating the dress. We love it! Fortune Cookie series photo #4.

Snow Much Fun

If they had remembered to bring a thermos of hot chocolate, their afternoon of snowman building would have been perfect.

Pink Unicorn

"Pink isn't just a color, it's a lifestyle."
                               --Joy, aka Unicorn Maiden

Unicorn Maiden is such a lovely doll; I really enjoyed dressing her and brushing her hair for this picture. It made me wonder: if I were to buy a twin to one of my dolls...might it be her? I love the light pink shade of her hair, her eyeliner and special brown eyelashes. I don't love the little lines at the sides of her lips, but the funny thing is, now that I love her, I don't even notice those lines.

The theme of this picture is "Pink," so it was a good time to include two new pink items in the dolly room. The little doll, top right, is a Momoji named Wish Upon a Star. Isn't she darling? Below her, the pink box with gold foil lining is filled with sugared almonds. It's from Lauduree in New York City.  My daughter brought it back to me when she went there in April. It will probably show up in my doll pictures as a footstool or plant stand. The little suitcase on the bottom is made of paper and came out of a Daphne's Diary magazine. It is there because it's just the right shade of pink for this picture!

Pink Spring

Yesterday's "Happy Spring!" picture got a lot of positive comments on Facebook. One person wondered how it would look with a pink background. Since I hadn't dismantled the arrangement of Unicorn Maiden with flowers, eggs and ribbon, I just slipped a sheet of pink paper underneath her and took the picture again. Here it is! It's pretty, but I must say that I prefer the black background for the contrast it provides. What do you think?

Happy Spring!

I couldn't resist taking one more picture of Unicorn Maiden, bedecked with flowers, ribbon, and Easter eggs. She is so perfectly lovely.

Daydreamer

They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.
                                                                     --Edgar Allen Poe

This is Unicorn Maiden. She is one of my favorite dolls, but I've taken only a few pictures of her, because I bought her a special outfit (the cow girl stock outfit from Darling Diva) and after photographing her in that, I haven't wanted to change her clothes, because she looks SO CUTE as a cow girl! But today I realized that I should play with her before the two new girls show up; Tsumori Blythe and Picnic Al Fresco are on their way here, and I'm sure they will claim my attention for a while.

Pictures

You oughta be in pictures,
You're wonderful to see,
You oughta be in pictures,
Oh what a hit you would be!

(Lyrics from the 1934 song "You Oughta Be in Pictures")

It's been weighing heavily on my mind that I haven't posted ANY pictures in February yet, so today I made time to set up a picture that I've been planning for a while. These are three of my newest dolls, looking as pretty as a picture (Unicorn Maiden, Mermaid Tasha, and Cream Cheese and Jam.)

Let's Go for a Hay Ride

Everyone waits patiently for Maximus to accept his carrot bribe; then Cowgirl Joy will hitch him to the wagon and the hay ride can commence!

Perhaps the cute dolls in the foreground (Middies Cool Pool Lemonade, Yellow Marshmallow, and Lena Elena, and Neo Unicorn Maiden) kept you from noticing the cool new barn backdrop I found at World Market this week. I love it, although it's really big and heavy; but it has hooks on the back so it can be hung on the wall...which will be a good way to store it when it's not being used for dolly photos.

Winners!

It was a great day at the horse show for Joy and Maximus. They took first place!

See, I said I had to take more pictures with this wonderful cowboy hat! This Blythe doll is Unicorn Maiden. The trophy and ribbon are accessories for Our Generation dolls (sold at Target.)

Unicorn Cowboy

Yee haw!! This Unicorn Maiden is going country!

About a month ago, when I knew that Unicorn Maiden (whom I named Joy) would soon be joining my collection of Blythe dolls, I decided to splurge on this gorgeous cowboy outfit with the idea that it would look great on my new pink haired girl. I've seen and admired it for quite a while--it's part of Darling Diva's stock (she was the 5th Anniversary doll in 2006, and she came with three complete outfits.) I ordered it from Mandarake, and by coincidence, it arrived on the same day as Unicorn Maiden! Look at the size of that box; it's even larger than the doll's box!

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT SO MUCH!!!

The jacket and skirt are made from soft pink suede. The back of the jacket is embroidered with horses to match the skirt, plus a heart and the name Blythe. The pink rose earrings came with the outfit. Isn't it great that Unicorn Maiden has pierced ears and can wear these earrings?

The kicker for me (pun intended) are the boots. Oh how I love the special boots Takara makes! I also love the cowboy hat (I wish I had included it in more of the pictures, but that gives me a reason to take MORE pictures!)

"Happy trails!" to everyone from Joy.

Gourmet Treat

A perfect fruit tart is more than just a gourmet treat; it's happiness held in the palm of your hand.

What's Her Name?

Although "Unicorn Maiden" is a great stock name, it's not what I want to call her every day! So I will call her Joy.

Be a Unicorn

Always be yourself...unless you can be a unicorn. In that case, always be a unicorn.

Unicorn Maiden has arrived! I very much like this dress on her, and I love that it can be either a dress or the underskirt for her long-sleeved outfit, which I will photograph next time.
