Floral Rainbow

“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.”  —Henri Matisse

A rainbow of Blythe flowers! What could be better? Oh, I know...a rainbow of Blythes on a flower jigsaw puzzle! I just finished this fun puzzle and I knew I needed to use it for a doll picture. Thank you Angie Coppi for getting me back into puzzles again with the one you sent me for my birthday last year! It’s been non-stop puzzles around here ever since. (They are Sweet Bubbly Bear, Blythe Adores Anna Sui, Tsumori Spirit, Cream Cheese and Jam, Simply Bubble Boom, and Cinema Princess.)

Travel

I travelled a lot in my twenties and thirties. School trips, and then my husband’s military career, took me all around the world. Then I realized that I actually don’t like to travel! Now I stay at home and all my travels take place between the pages of books. (This Blythe doll is Elegant Ellie.)

Go

This photo may not look like it, but it was incredibly hard to set up! I really wanted two dolls on the bike, and Vera Florentine (in back) had the hardest time balancing behind  Patty Patch. The bike kept tipping, Patty couldn’t reach both the seat and the handlebars at the same time, their hair kept getting messed up, and I kept changing my mind about what to put in the bike basket (I wanted to use a stuffed heart but it was too big.) The last problem came when adding the quote in PicMonkey; I couldn’t find a font that was just right. I like the style of this one, but the letters are a bit too thin, so the quote doesn’t “pop” against the background as much as I would like it to.

House Plants

Our local know-it-all, Miss Zara, is here to share some of her wealth of knowledge with us. Today’s topic: “Improve Your Space With Plants.”

(This Blythe doll is Tsumori Spirit, posing for the theme House Plants in the Blythe a Day group.)

Squirrel Appreciation Day

The whole town came together to honor Chuck, a local squirrel, who proved to be a hero earlier this week. On Monday night, fire broke out at the residence of Miss Sally Rice. Chuck was enjoying an acorn in the hollow tree in the back yard when he heard cries for help. Showing no concern for his personal safety, he ran into the blazing structure and one by one, tossed four people and two cats across his back and carried them outside. At the party in his honor, cheers of “hip hip, hooray!” could be heard for miles. Thank you Chuck! We appreciate you!

Ice Skating

“In skating over thin ice, our safety is in our speed.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is my newest doll, Good Neighbor Cafe, wearing our newest dress, a gift made by my friend Sandie. I love the combination of the crocheted bodice with the fabric skirt, and the fit is perfect. It’s so pretty! This picture is for the theme “ice” in the Blythe a Day group.

Coffee Please

I love a good inspirational quote, and I love coffee. When I found this quote on Pinterest, it was too funny to resist for today’s theme, “coffee.” This Blythe doll is Veronica Lace.

Toy Times Two

What’s better than a new toy? TWO new toys! (That goes for anything good...cupcakes, cats, books, jigsaw puzzles...what would you add to the list?)

This Middie Blythe is Yellow Marshmallow posing for the theme Toy Box in the Blythe a Day group.

Winter Weather

The night was so beautiful, cold, and crisp, that they decided to bundle up and eat their soup supper outside in the snow.

The Neo Blythe is Cousin Olivia; the Middie is Lena Elena, and the Petite is a Littlest Pet Shop Blythe.

Flapjacks

Mirabelle’s flapjacks are legendary. It all started in her all-girls high school, when she got the top score on the Betty Crocker’s Homemaker of Tomorrow test. The prize was $10,000! She used that money to go to cooking school. Having gotten a taste of winning—and liking it—she entered every cooking contest she heard of. She came away with first prize in the Flappy Jack’s Pancake Mix cook off. No one knows her secret ingredient, but everyone agrees that hers are the best flapjacks they’ve ever eaten.

This Blythe doll is Fani Flamingo, posing for the theme “You Don’t Know Jack” in the Blythe a Day group. And yes, those are actual little pancakes that I made just for this picture! This story is semi-autobiographical, because I actually did win the Homemaker of Tomorrow award in high school, but there was no cash prize, unfortunately; just a certificate. And then I did go to cooking school, but I did not win any cooking contests.

Warm Up

“You won’t have to warm up if you never get cold in the first place. Just wear warm clothes!”     —Simply Peppermint

(Isn’t she wise? She’s wearing parts of the stock outfits from Ice Rune and Lavender Hugs, plus a hand knitted hat and scarf. This chalk board flat lay is for the theme Warm Up in the Blythe a Day group.)

Take a Hike

“An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.”  —Henry David Thoreau

Patty Patch is such a great Blythe doll, with her beautiful thick hair and cute freckles on her nose.

This gorgeous redhead is Chocolat Blythe.

Snow

This lovely snow queen is Tokyo Bright. The wintery paper cut outs came from Hallmark.

Pull My String

Breaking news: One week after it’s release, the new album from Honey B and the SBL’s has rocketed to the top of the charts! This is unheard of for a record that was produced in a garage. These popular musicians will be going on tour immediately, so if you want to see them in person, you need to call Ticketmaster TODAY to reserve your seat. What are you waiting for? CALL NOW!

Did you call yet?

I had so much fun with this picture! It is for the theme “garage band” in the Blythe a Day group. These dolls are, from left to right: Lil Heart by Milk, Good Neighbor Cafe, and Mademoiselle Rosebud—all SBL’s of course!

Begin

Can it be...ANOTHER doll has joined my Blythe family? Yes! This is Good Neighbor Cafe, also known around here as Honey B. She has been loved by two collectors before me, and when the opportunity recently arose to purchase her, I snapped her right up! She’s in pristine condition, which is a nice bonus with an older doll (she was released in 2005). Welcome dear!

Walking

“If I could not walk far and fast, I think I should just explode and perish.” —Charles Dickens

I love this quote, because I too love walking. Unfortunately, I am a fair-weather walker, so I don’t do it as much in the winter as I would like to. This Blythe doll is Fani Flamingo, walking in front of the new doll house I got (for myself!) for Christmas.

Wintertime Friends

This is my newest Blythe doll, Fani Flamingo. It’s funny that my first picture of her is set on a frosty winter day,  because she is actually a summer/swimming themed doll!  I love her egg-yolk-yellow hair combined with her coral colored lips and blush; when you factor in her blue eyes (she has two pairs of blue), she’s a stunner! She reminds me of the older Blythe called Mirabelle Melody, whom I’ve had my eye on for a while, but she is quite pricey; so I decided to get Fani instead, and call her Mirabelle. That works for me! Her dress, made by “On Blythe Street” on Etsy, was a gift from a dear friend.
