TWENTY-NINE Books

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! — When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.” ― Jane Austen

These 29 books (plus the 30th one not shown), the bookcase, and the background and floor are all part of a craft kit I got for Christmas. It requires a LOT of cutting and folding, and some glueing, to make all these books, and I confess that I got tired of it long before I finished them all…most of what you see on the shelves are empty covers. The bookcase was easy to make, it’s just punching out the perforated shapes and folding the pieces. The kit comes in a box that looks like a book, and when you open it, you see this wall and floor printed on the inside, so that made it easy to set up this little scene. For the theme “Twenty-nine” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Although they were from different worlds, it was love at first sight for Ken. He dropped to one knee and presented Coquette with a 28 carat diamond engagement ring (which he happened to have in his pocket, “just in case”). It may need to be sized.

This Blythe doll is Coquette Lumiere, wearing her stock outfit. This Ken doll is from the Barbie movie. For the theme “Twenty-eight” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Number NINE

Pants and shoes are optional when playing in the rain.

This Blythe doll is Zoe and Her Pet Fish, wearing Playful Raindrops’ stock outfit. Her nine friends are Sonny Angel dolls. The background is a jigsaw puzzle called Rainy Day, by Re-marks. It was really fun to do! This picture is for the theme “Nine” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr, and “April Showers” in the Blythe Pure and Simple group on Facebook.

One sunny day while I was working on this puzzle, my daughter and I went for a walk in a touristy part of town; there were lots of people about. I was using an umbrella to keep the sun off my face and out of my eyes, and I heard a little voice loudly proclaim “That girl has an umbrella, and it’s not raining!” Aren’t kids funny?

Number TWO

Two heads are better than one!

I’m having fun playing with PicCollage again; among other things, they offer these “magic cutout templates”. You choose the template and one of your photos, and the app combines them. It’s so easy, and really adds something to an otherwise boring photo.

These Blythe dolls are Simply Mango and Simply Guava, for the number “two” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Number ONE

“My name’s London, and I have one dog. People say we look alike.”

This month’s Blythe a Day group on Flickr has a simple theme: numbers. Each day’s picture must somehow include the number of the day—one on April first, two on the second, etc. I’m not sure how this is going to play out, especially as the numbers get bigger later in the month, but I’m going to give it a go!

This Blythe doll is Prima Dolly London. Her dog is a Barbie pet.
