Souvenir

She buys a souvenir so she will remember that her holiday wasn’t just a beautiful dream.

This is Mermaid Tasha for the theme “Take a holiday somewhere.”

I Love Paris

Paris is always a good idea.

This flat lay is for the theme “Take a holiday somewhere.” I used my simple formula for this picture: a doll (Mermaid Tasha) + a prop (flowers) + a background (Eiffel tower sketch on a chalkboard). I added the phrase J’aime Paris (I love Paris) using PicMonkey.

Beautiful

What do you do when you want to take a doll picture, but you haven’t got an idea for it? Where do you find inspiration? I often look at Pinterest. The picture in this post was inspired by drawings of cats with flowers on their heads! This Blythe doll is simply Lilac.

Strange Things

Strange things can be beautiful too.

Playful Raindrops is sitting on a clay box my daughter made in art class when she was in high school. The hand coming out of the top is strange, but I think that the box is interesting and the colors are beautiful.

These are ping pong balls that my daughter painted when she was in high school. They were inside the strange box with the hand coming out of the lid. I think they are amazing, even if creepy!

This is a Blythe Lucky Card. I got a pack of them in my Junie Moon Happy Bag. We’re doing a weekly photo challenge on Facebook using a different card for inspiration each week. The Facebook group is called Blythe Pure and Simple (for pictures of stock Blythe dolls only). Come and join us!

Photo Inspiration

There was something in my Junie Moon Happy Bag that I would not have bought for myself, but it’s one of my favorite items in the bag! I thought it was a deck of playing cards, but it’s actually a pack of Blythe Lucky Cards. Each one has a picture of Blythe with a phrase of some kind. I’m always looking for inspiration for doll photos, and these lucky cards are perfect for that! Here’s the first picture and the card that inspired it. The card says “Let flowers give you power.” Pretty Peony posed for the picture, wearing a fabulous straw hat that was also in the happy bag.

The card:

Happy Bag 2021

I splurged and bought a Junie Moon Happy Bag this year, and here’s what was inside: a few doll outfits, lots of bags, pouches, and stickers, and...Sea sailor See! Yes, I was hoping for a rarer doll, or one that I didn’t already own, but she is a very photogenic doll and I’m pleased to have twins.

Let’s Skip!

It’s a beautiful day! Let’s skip, and have fun!

These happy Blythe dolls are Snowflake Sonata, Sweet Bubbly Bear, and Prima Dolly London.

Did you know that April 24th is National Skipping Day? It’s just one of the many strange days on the calendar.

Remain in the Light

This is Sarah Shades, concentrating on the positive things in life.

Here’s a view of this picture from a different angle for anyone wondering how I made her stand. Her forehead is propped against a wooden skewer, which is resting against the background.

Decisions, Decisions

“Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from making bad decisions.”        —Mark Twain

Fortunately for Yellow Marshmallow, there are no bad decisions at Minty Magic’s sweet shop.

Sweets for the Sweet

All your favorite treats are ready for pick up right now at Sweets for the Sweet!

This is my new girl, Minty Magic. Her hair was too greasy and frizzy to brush when she arrived, so I washed it in Dawn and dunked it in near-boiling water. When it dried, it was still unbrushable, so I did it again. This time, after I boiled water and took it off the heat, I dipped her hair in and out of the water five or six times, then finished with cold water. After drying, I could brush her hair, and it still has a lot of volume. I think she’s super cute and I love these special eye chips (they are described as “mint green” but they look more like mint blue to me!)

I don’t have any sort of store display cases, so for this picture I used two bookcases from the IKEA Huset doll furniture instead. They work quite well, filled with toy sweets I’ve collected over the years.

I knew when I bought her that her shoes might be an issue, and sure enough, she has two right shoes. I would love to swap one with someone who got two left shoes...message me!
