Nevermore

 “Did someone just say ‘Nevermore’?”

Things are starting to get spooky in Sarah Shades’ neighborhood. This photo is for the theme “Orange is the new black” in the Facebook group Blythe Pure and Simple.

In the Garden

“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” —Frances Hodgson Burnett (author of The Secret Garden)

Allegra Champagne was the anniversary Blythe doll in 2016. She’s standing in front of a photographer’s background, wearing a dress and headband I made.

Breakfast

Some people enjoy a healthy breakfast. Some people don’t.

These Neo Blythe dolls are Sea Sailor See and Spring Hope. The Middie is Nellie Nibbles. This picture is for the theme “Make yourself a healthy breakfast” in the group Facebook Blythe Pure and Simple.

Later when I returned to the room, I saw this! What is going on here?? Spring Hope had flipped up in her short stand but was held in place by the table. It looks like she is levitating, and the other girls are afraid of her. This made me laugh!

If you guessed that this Blythe doll is Fani Flamingo, you are right! The flamingo is an ornament from World Market.

Word of the Day

The word of the day is “try.”

“You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don’t try.  —Beverly Sills

Don’t let fear of failure keep you from trying. If it’s something you really want to do, something that is important to you…TRY.

This doll is Blythe Adores Anna Sui.

Glad to Be Alive

Isn’t this a lovely quote?  William Allingham was an Irish poet who lived from 1824 to 1889. The Blythe doll in this photo is Anna Sui, wearing Leading Lady Lucy’s stock dress. She is standing in front of a photography background printed on vinyl. It was fairly inexpensive on Amazon.

Music

 Let music be your heartbeat.

Leading Lady Lucy poses for this week’s photo challenge in the Facebook group Blythe Pure and Simple. I had just found this child’s piano in my local antique store a few days before this theme was announced, and I was happy to have a chance to use it in a doll picture so soon!

Take the Next Step

The only thing between where you are and where you want to be are the steps you haven’t taken yet.

Sarah Shades is walking up a set of stairs I recently found at my local antique mall. I’m not happy with how the chalkboard drawing looks with these stairs though—it doesn’t show up very well, so I plan to “try, try again” with either a drawing on paper or paper cut outs. But Sarah looks great, and the stairs look great, so I decided not to trash the picture.

Cooking With Citrine

“Today’s episode of ‘Beginning to Cook With Citrine’ is all about my favorite spice, CINNAMON! We will start with something easy that anyone can make: cinnamon toast. Yum!”

This is Ice Rune wearing Mrs. Retro Mama’s stock apron and scarf, and Candy Carnival’s stock dress.

Trees

He that plants trees loves others besides himself.  —Thomas Fuller

Lady Panacea was the obvious choice for this picture with the theme “trees”. I think she must be Mother Nature’s sister.

Sporty

 “Tennis, anyone?”

Pretty Peony is posing for the theme “Sporty” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I’ve had this cute tennis set for quite a while, but this is the first time I’ve used it. I guess I was waiting for the perfect theme. The little can of balls actually opens and the balls come out!

Banana!

It was the first day of her senior year, and Penny was walking to school wearing a new outfit in her favorite color, orange. Suddenly she was falling, having slipped on a banana peel! Two of her classmates witnessed this spectacle, but before they pulled her to her feet they couldn’t resist the urge to laugh because the situation reminded them of that old knock-knock joke. They pulled some fruit from their lunch bags and shouted the punchline: “Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?”

Today I realized that I hadn’t looked at the themes in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr for the month of September yet, and since it’s already the 3rd, I had the brilliant idea to make a picture that includes all of the first three themes: back to school, orange, and falling. I hope it made you smile.

These Blythe dolls are Minty Magic, Sadie Sprinkle, and Cloud 9 Bowl.

I Have Questions

“The answers are within…but what are the questions??”

This is my second picture for the theme “The answers are within.” This time Playful Raindrops strikes a pose in a chalkboard flat lay. I’m glad I’ve finally been able to use the “?” box, which I’ve had for a long time.
