Friendly Freckles

"Do you think my freckles make me look friendly, Kitty?"

This is Precocious Candy's Mushroom, contemplating her freckles for the theme "Friendly Freckles" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. She's my only Blythe doll with freckles--I don't know what I would have done without her for this theme!

June Calendar Page

Early in May I made a photo that had the calendar for the month on it; I was so pleased with how it turned out, that now I plan to do one every month.

Tomorrow is the first of June, so here is the new calendar photo. I plan to use it as wallpaper on my cellphone. You can use it too if you want to! In addition to being a fun photo to see when I open my phone, it is useful when I need to know a date in a hurry.

For June, two of my blue-haired girls (UFO A Go Go and Mandy Cotton Candy) are enjoying an early summer camping trip, complete with a marshmallow roast.

Reach for It

There was one perfect apple just beyond her reach.

This is Chocolat Blythe wearing the stock dress from Candy Carnival. Isn't her hair gorgeous?!

A Little Princess

“I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren’t pretty, or smart, or young. They’re still princesses.”

― Frances Hodgson BurnettA Little Princess

When I add a quote to one of my photos, I usually choose something happy or upbeat. This time, I couldn't come up with anything "happy" that would suit this picture of May, my Melomelomew Middie (wearing her new gown that came from eBay), because she looks melancholy! So the bittersweet quote from "A Little Princess" seemed to fit.

I love the book "A Little Princess," and all of Frances Hodgson Burnett's writings, actually. Her stories are full of drama and trauma, but no matter how bad things get for the main characters, everything always works out well in the end. Predictable, yes; but satisfying on many levels. Things in real life rarely work out perfectly well so it's nice to be able to enjoy a fictional happy ending!

Priorities

Life's short. Eat dessert first.

These are my almost-twins, Stella Savannah (left) and Coco Collette (right), for the theme "Twins" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Although their hair is almost exactly the same, they have several differences:

Collette:
--thicker hair
--pink lips
--eye colors brown (right), pink (forward), blue (left), and green (forward)

--skin-tone pull ring

Stella:
--thinner hair
--peach lips
--peach nail polish
--stud earrings
--eye colors pink (right), amber (forward), dark green (left), and blue (forward)

--pink pull ring

Ice Cream Time

Live life LARGE.

I had a fun surprise this week: a friend who was downsizing her dolly closet sent me a box of Blythe clothes! Yay!! Thank you Susan! I love stock outfits, and there were several in the package, including this top and trousers from Fruit Punch. I put them on my Playful Raindrops for this chalk board flat lay. The glasses are from Prima Dolly London, and the gold bag is a key chain from Target.

Weather Report

Today's weather: mostly sunny with a 100% chance of Blythe.

I actually took my doll out in public for this picture! Since we were going to Colonial Williamsburg (it's just minutes away from our home here in Virginia) to play Pokemon Go, I decided to put Q-Pot in my bag so I could look for a quiet spot in which to photograph her. A big tree with a low branch provided just the right setting.

Cinco de Mayo 2018

She's Mexican for a day.

This Blythe doll is Bow Wow Trad. For the third time, I've made a Cinco de Mayo picture using the same background and the same dress, because I just don't have many Mexican-looking props! You can see the others here: 20162015 (I guess I forgot to take a picture for it last year!)

May the Fourth

May the Fourth be with you...and every other date in May, too!

I happen to love the month of May; in fact, it is my favorite month of the year, so I wanted to celebrate it accordingly (sorry for skipping the Stars Wars reference!) This picture was inspired by the work of an artist I admire, Geninne, who makes a free monthly calendar painting that can be used as wallpaper on your computer or cell phone. So yes, I did put this on my phone as wallpaper! It's a bit big though; I need to work on resizing it.

This is a chalkboard flat lay. The two dolls are Yellow Marshmallow (the Middie) and Playful Raindrops (the Neo.)

A Day at the Park

"Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat."

Cousin Olivia, Nellie Nibbles, and Connie Corneille enjoy a day at the park. For the theme "Wheels" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Lucky Girl

She searched in the emerald grass until she found it, that luckiest of plants: a four-leaf clover. Today is going to be a good day.

This is Enchanted Petal; I call her Beryl. I found this cute plastic four-leaf clover in a toy store early this year, and I intended to use it in a St. Patrick's Day photo; but life got in the way and I didn't do a picture for St. Patty's Day after all. It is perfect for this picture, though! This for the theme "Emerald" in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Work

*Sigh* A witch's work is never done.

This is Maeve, my Chocolat Blythe doll, wearing her stock outfit. I've been planning to make this photo for a while; it seemed like a funny idea to have a witch use her broom for sweeping rather than flying. Then when I saw that today's Blythe a Day photo theme is "Labor Day/Jobs" (which I'm interpreting as "work") I knew it was time to put my plan into action.
