We went down to the farm to make this Valentine, featuring the lovely Spring Hope.

“Whoo” Do You Love?

Another little Valentine to make you smile. The owl is a Momiji doll; this Blythe doll is Tokyo Bright.

Open Up

Knock, knock! Open the door to your heart!

Stella Serendipitous looks pretty in pink. She’s wearing New Dress #7 I made from some impulse-buy fabric.

Kitten

There are two things I love in this picture: Blythe, and cats. Oh wait, I love hearts too! How about you?

She is Cream Cheese and Jam, and she has a TON of hair. I made the kitty from a Gingermelon pattern.

Sweet!

“It seems they had always been, and always would be, friends. Time could change, but not that.” —Winnie the Pooh

This is Mandy Cotton Candy wearing a dress I made recently.

Let Us

Ichigo Heaven and Prima Dolly London were made to be BFF’s. I sewed their dresses; the lettuce and salad are from Our Generation doll play sets at Target.

Wooden Shoe?

Snowflake Sonata has an intriguing question for you…

The shoes are apparently a souvenir item; I found them at my local antique mall. I made her dress a few years ago.

Pink

If your favorite color is pink, you are a kind and loving person who goes above and beyond to help others. (colorsexplained.com)

This Blythe doll is Charlotte de Fleurs, posing for the theme “Pink” in the Facebook group Blythe Pure and Simple. As you can see, I’ve never brushed her hair! When she was released there was a lot of talk about how unmanageable her curly perm was, so I just fluffed it up and left it alone.

How Much?

My sweet husband brought me a pound of fresh cherries from the grocery store yesterday. How could I not use a couple of them in a dolly picture? This Blythe doll is Cinema Princess wearing New Dress #6 (my favorite one so far!)

Bees!

HURRY UP and bee mine (so I can go back inside!)

Lil Heart by Milk is the intrepid model for this Valentine. This picture looks a little different/strange because I used a piece of sheer fabric, embroidered with bees, as an overlay. It’s gorgeous fabric and it’s perfect for the theme, but it made for a hazy-looking photo. But it sure says “bees!”

Love

“Love is a perfume you cannot pour onto others without getting a few drops on yourself.”        --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today is January 14th…that means it’s one month until Valentine’s Day. Let the love/heart/pink/red pictures begin!

This is Devi Delacour. She looks smashing in pink, don’t you agree? I made this dress a few years ago.

Amazing

YOU, dear reader. You are amazing.

Elegant Ellie is wearing New Dress #5 made from my impulse buy fabric. I enhanced the existing design on the bodice with embroidery to make it more interesting.

Color

Be the color in a black and white world.

This is Devi Delacour, wearing New Dress #4 (from my impulse buy fabric.) Happily, I found just enough of this poofy pink trim in my sewing room to accent the hem and neckline, and I love this dress on Devi.

What’s that background, you ask? It’s something I drew on a big piece of paper. Next step: add color, and try not to ruin it in the process!

Today

 Have a great day, everyone!

Lady Camellia is wearing New Dress #3. In an effort to be more relaxed in my sewing, I embroidered the strawberry freehand…which was actually a bit nerve-wracking. I will trace the pattern onto the fabric before sewing next time.

Happiness

“Happiness is the place between too much and too little.” —Finnish proverb

Devi Delacour makes me happy with her dramatic beauty.

You Look Great!

“I can live for two months on a good compliment.” —Mark Twain

I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but you look great!

This is Hello Arden, wearing her stock outfit. Isn’t she nice?

Practice

Chopsticks aren’t hard to use once you get the hang of it. As with most things in life, practice makes perfect.

Asha Alvira and Cherry Beach Sunset are wearing the two dresses I finished this week using some new fabrics that were an impulse buy.

Fruit

Sew Happy

This is an actual photograph of me, having so much fun with my new fabrics! I’m trying very hard to stop being a perfectionist, because (for me) that drains the fun out of a project. I’m trying not to sweat the small stuff. I want to feel relaxed and free while I’m sewing! I have three dolly dresses almost finished.

Okay, reality check: Minty Magic is standing in for me in this picture…she’s wearing the first dress (still needs snaps in back) and she’s sewing the second one on a cute little sewing machine ornament I found at Hallmark before Christmas. I will post a picture soon of the finished dresses.

I Choose

 “I choose happiness!”

Simply Bubble Boom knows how to have fun! The dress is by She Puppy, the llama is an ornament from World Market, and the cats are from an Advent calendar.

Fabric!

I haven’t done much sewing for quite a while, but when an ad popped up in my Facebook feed for the bundle of pink cotton fat quarters in the center of this picture, I couldn’t buy it fast enough! The fabrics are gorgeous! While I was at it, I bought the other two bundles in the picture. Now I’m feeling excited and inspired to sew Blythe dresses again. These dolls are Snowflake Sonata (Penelope, on the left) and Prima Dolly London (Ellie, on the right.) They are wearing dresses that I made, with their names embroidered on them.

Snowy!

Well, it’s a good thing they are wearing warm clothes!

It was 70 degrees yesterday, and today we have a blizzard here in Virginia, USA. I thought it would be a great time for me to take a picture of my dolls looking at the snow from the safety of the porch, but it wasn’t as “safe” as I thought it was..the wind was blowing the snow onto me and the dolls, and when I got one to stand up, the wind blew her over, so I set the other one next to her, took the picture, and called it good! They are Unicorn Maiden and Devi Delacour for the weekly challenge “Wear warm clothes” in the Facebook group Blythe Pure And Simple.

New Girl #2

No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart.

Here’s the other lovely doll I got for Christmas: Devi Delacour, the demon with a good heart (according to her promotional info)! I will wait to use her stock outfit until Halloween. In the meantime, I will enjoy dressing her in non-demonic colors and styles. I love how dramatic she looks.

Hello, Arden!

Even when the day is cold and windy, the errands must be run!

Hello Arden is one of two dolls who were under my Christmas tree. As you probably know, she is Hello Again Junie Moonie Cutie, re-styled to be reminiscent of Vinter Arden, inspired by the atmosphere of the winter forest. I love every piece of her stock outfit! One interesting fact is that she has pierced ears, but didn’t come with earrings…but I’m sure I can find something for her on eBay or at Claire’s.

Dec. 31: Ring in the New Year

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2022!

This is Tokyo Bright for the theme “Ring in the new year” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr—the last day of December—phew! I’ve posted a picture every day for the past three months, which might be a record for me. Now it’s time to clean up the doll room and perhaps take a little break.
