Time

Be patient. Your time will come.

I just love Elegant Ellie! That gorgeous hair! She is posing for the weekly photo challenge in the Facebook group Blythe Pure and Simple. I had forgotten that I had this Gloria brand grandfather clock; I’m glad I came across it when looking for a prop for this photo, it’s perfect!

Good Fortune

Marta’s first visit to a fortune teller was so exciting that she plans to go back every week.

Blythe and Her Wubba Chiken

 Follow the leader!

Wubba chikens were a thing with Blythe dolls when I first got into the hobby several years ago. Now they are making a comeback in the Facebook group called Blythe and Her Wubba Chiken. It’s a great place to recycle some old photos and get inspiration for new ones. I purchased the dog in the chicken suit this weekend, just to use in pictures for this theme. He’s perfect!

Frog Prince

Minty Magic is super versatile...during the week she’s a shop girl; on the weekend, she’s a princess! She looks a lot like Allegra Champagne when she’s wearing Allegra’s dress, doesn’t she? The little frog fellow is a Sonny Angel doll. This picture is for the theme “You will find someone to love” in the Facebook group Blythe Pure and Simple.

Sunset #2

Take time to enjoy the sunset with Cherry Beach Sunset and Zyanya Remembers.

Zyanya has just arrived. I expected her coloring to be about the same as Cherry Beach, but to my surprise, her complexion is noticeably lighter, while her hair is exactly the same shade. Aren’t they both beautiful?

Sunset

Each week on Sunday, I post a new photo challenge in my group on Facebook, Blythe Pure and Simple. Last night (Saturday night) I thought it was Sunday, and I hadn’t posted the challenge yet, so I hurried to choose a Blythe Lucky Card which would give us a theme. The card said “Take time to enjoy the sunset” so I tried to think of a way to do this indoors (I’m more comfortable taking doll pictures inside.) I have a canvas painted in sunset colors, so I decided to try to make it work. Here’s the result. Apparently, Simply Sparkly Spark is enjoying the sunset...on Mars! Looking at it this morning I could only shake my head. What was I thinking? My only answer is, it was late and I was tired. At least she looks great in the new dress from our Junie Moon Happy Bag!

Climb

Advice from Jane Kenner: “Climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every rainbow, til you find your dream.”

You may recognize her advice as the lyrics to “Climb Every Mountain” from the movie The Sound of Music. I’m currently reading “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers” by Maria Trapp, and certain scenes in the book bring to mind songs from the movie. I currently have this one stuck in my head!

Walk

Walking is a great form of exercise, and you never know what new things you might discover when you go for a walk.

This is Prima Dolly Amaryllis wearing a dress I made. The background was made for my dolls by my daughter.

The Unicorn in Poetry

While researching unicorns this week, I came across this interesting poem, which inspired the photo below. In the poem, the unicorn is male, but if you read it using feminine pronouns you may agree that Tokyo Bright illustrates the poem quite well. Can you guess what I used for her horn?

The Unicorn

The saintly hermit, midway through his prayers
stopped suddenly, and raised his eyes to witness
the unbelievable: for there before him stood
the legendary creature, startling white, that
had approached, soundlessly, pleading with his eyes.

The legs, so delicately shaped, balanced a
body wrought of finest ivory. And as
he moved, his coat shone like reflected moonlight.
High on his forehead rose the magic horn, the sign
of his uniqueness: a tower held upright
by his alert, yet gentle, timid gait.

The mouth of softest tints of rose and grey, when
opened slightly, revealed his gleaming teeth,
whiter than snow. The nostrils quivered faintly:
he sought to quench his thirst, to rest and find repose.
His eyes looked far beyond the saint's enclosure,
reflecting vistas and events long vanished,
and closed the circle of this ancient mystic legend.

Unicorn

I had never read any unicorn lore before I started working on a picture for the theme “Be like a unicorn and seek pure hearts.” What does this phrase mean, I wondered? It turns out that unicorns were considered to be so virtuous that they would only appear to the pure of heart. That’s why I chose Spright Beauty for this picture; her ethereal loveliness speaks of innocence and purity to me. She is joined in this photo by a Momiji unicorn doll called Little Starlight Girl.

Friends

Friends come in many sizes, shapes, and colors.

Fani Flamingo’s adorable little friends came from Violetpi on Etsy. I love her unique style. I treated myself to these two for my birthday this year.
