Glam

This is Citrine, my Ice Rune, looking glam.

Her dress just came in the mail this week--it is "second hand" and I don't know who made it, but it is so pretty, and so different from what I usually make, that it is a good addition to my dolls' wardrobe. The composition of this photo was inspired by something I saw on Facebook this week. I've decided to try imitating photos that I especially like, as a way to break out of my "same old thing" rut.

Clouds and Cupcakes

Collette and Paisley show off their new outfits while taking the dogs for a walk.

Collette's outfit was featured last time; now it's Paisley's turn! Her raspberry and aqua cupcake ensemble goes great with her hair.

When they get too warm and take off their hats and sweaters, this is what is underneith. Paisley is wearing a one-piece dress, while Collette has on t-shirt and skirt separates.

Since I love to do embroidery, I thought I would try it on the neckline of their tops. Looks good! Next I plan to use it on some white dreses, with embroidered flowers at the neckline and hemline.

These Blythe dolls are Mandy Cotton Candy and Coco Collette.

Well Coordinated

Collette is looking waaaay too cute in this new outfit! I love these colors, and I had fun making all the pieces to match. I've made similar skirts, t-shirts, knit hats and sweaters before...but this is the first doll-sized bag I've made, and I am pleased! It is made from felt, with a faux-suede strap. It's perfect for toting a trio of wubba chikins!

This Blythe doll is Coco Collette.

Styling Blythe

London is somewhat dubious about being "styled" by her sisters--but they seem to be doing a good job of it.

These are the dresses I made last week...besides the different fabrics, there are slight differences between them all.

Simply Sparkly Spark (Alice); Prima Dolly London (London); Enchanted Petal (Beryl).

Taking a Walk

London and Alice got new dresses! The skirts of both dresses are made from the other two fabrics my friend Susan W. sent me a few weeks ago. I love these fabrics; they are perfect for little dolly dresses.

The girls went for a walk with their troll dolls, and were surprised to meet a little fairy by the water. So, fairies really do exist!

The fairy is a Lalaloopsy mini doll. The troll dolls are actually ERASERS, can you believe it? They have belly jewels and hair, but their eyes are just decals. I found them at Target.

Beryl Loves Purple

About two weeks ago, a sweet friend sent me some beautiful fabrics that she found at a quilt shop (thank you again, Susan W.!!!) I had planned to make dresses from them as soon as I finished what I was working on at that time...but then last week happened. I walked into my sewing room one morning to discover that the carpet was damp. I thought maybe the cat had something to do with it, but as the morning went on it kept getting wetter, and I soon realized there was a leaking pipe somewhere. The plumber arrived quickly and found the problem (luckily the bad pipe was in a wall that separates the garage from my sewing room, so he cut a hole in the garage side of the wall, sparing my sewing space!) The bad news was that my carpet took several days to dry, during which time I did very little sewing.

Yesterday, the carpet was dry, my sewing room was put back together, and I was feeling motivated again, so I whipped up a cute little dress from this pretty purple floral fabric. I love it! Beryl looks great in purple, and here she is, showing off her purple collection. As I was thinking about taking a picture of this dress, I decided to check the September Blythe a Day group on flickr to see what today's theme is, so I could make the picture work for that too. (I've really missed taking daily photos for that group.) It seems impossible, but today's theme is actually "purple"!!! It was meant to be!

Custom Orders

I gladly accept custom requests for hand embroidered Blythe panties (both Neo and Middie sizes) in my Etsy shop (Blythe Happy)!

If you have an idea for an embroidered image, just go to Etsy and send me a message, and I will let you know if it is possible. As long an it isn't too detailed, I can probably put it on a Blythe panty for you--at the regular price of $7.50 for Neo size or $6.50 for Middie size. This fall leaf on a Middie panty, below, is a recent custom request.

I have a listing for white dresses with a name embroidered on them...and I can put the name on a panty, too! These two, below, just went out in the mail today. I really need these for all my dolls, so when I forget someone's name, I can just flip up her dress and there it is!

Newest Heart Pocket Dresses

So here they are--the three Heart Pocket dresses that I listed in my Etsy shop this week. They each have a felt heart pocket adorned with a flower, and a hairbow that matches the dress. I love these color combinations so much that I want to make more, more more!!

What's that peeking out of the top of the pockets, you ask? It's a tiny letter from one Blythe to another! I put those in there because an empty pocket would be boring.

A Special Pocket Dress

I'm working on a new batch of pocket dresses. In the past, they have all had heart-shaped pockets, but this one is a square. I made this "pocket" a few years ago when I was seriously into making felt badges...it started with a swap on Craftster.org, and I just kept going! That's one thing I liked about doing craft swaps: I would often learn a new skill I might not have tried otherwise. In this case, I learned how to craft cute little pictures on felt. I'm going to keep this dress (or should I say, Wendy here is going to keep it, because the colors are great on her!), but I'm working on another dress in the same fabrics that will have the heart pocket, and will be one of several that I will offer in my Etsy store next week.

Don't Forget the Middies!

I spend most of my panty-making time on the Neo size Blythe undies...but Middies need knickers too!

In recent weeks I've been happy to receive some custom orders for Middie Blythe panties.  This gives me the push I need to re-size some of the Neo designs to fit the smaller garment, such as the snowflake and flying heart, below.

I was especially pleased with these next two panties. When my customer asked for a lemon, I was worried that a simple outline of a lemon would be too plain looking, so I filled in the whole design and added the leaf, stem, and highlight details. I think it look fantastic! And the paw print looks great with the whole design filled in too.

I wish I could keep them in stock in my Etsy store, but I never seem to get ahead enough in my sewing to do so.  If your Middies need some new undergarments, I would be happy to make some for you--just send me a message on Etsy: www.blythehappy.etsy.com

It's Almost Fall

It's almost Fall, so I decided I should make some Fall-themed Blythe panties for my Etsy store. I posted this picture on my Facebook page , and someone commented "What, no bats?" That's a great idea! And I've done a spider before, and a skull...this would be the perfect time to list some spookier designs.
