Harrowing

Aaaaahhh! RUN! No one wants to meet with a harrowing demise!

This is not my usual type of picture; even at Halloween I like to keep things light and cute, but I came across the phrase “harrowing demise” on a hand-painted poster at my local theme park (Busch Gardens, Williamsburg Va.) and it sparked my imagination. I looked it up just to be sure I understood the meaning of “harrowing”— it means “acutely distressing or painful”—so yes, that is exactly the type of demise that would best be avoided!  Picture of the poster inspiration below. Fortune

Nervously, you sit down across from the fortune teller. She gazes silently into the crystal ball. Suddenly, in a loud voice she announces: “That which you seek is seeking you!” You gasp in surprise as you realize that your fortune is exactly what you had hoped for!

This Blythe doll is Zyanya Remembers, wearing her stock dress and Lady Panacea’s headpiece. The crystal ball is a snow globe-type thing, filled with clear liquid and very fine shimmering glitter that swirls beautifully when you shake the globe. I had to shake it repeatedly as I worked on this picture!

Favorite Time of Year

Great-Aunt Ima loved Halloween, so Jane always puts orange flowers on her grave in October. Luckily, Jane isn’t bothered by paranormal activity.

Candy Time

What do you do when the candy store down the street is giving away a trick-or-treat bag with every purchase? You buy enough Halloween candy that your sisters can each have a bag!

This Blythe doll is Bow Wow Trad. The wonderful treat bags were made by Angie Coppi. The candy store background is a jigsaw puzzle—it was a fun surprise from my friend Jair Retureta. Thanks, Jair!

Shoes

 If the shoe fits, wear it!

These are the spookiest shoes (and boots) that we have. They are all stock items except the skull boots, which came in an accessory pack with stockings and some other shoes. The two little costumed animals are Calico Critters.

Haunted Carnival

“Hooray! A Halloween carnival!” Surprisingly, the children don’t seem to notice, or care, that the carnival is absolutely ghastly-looking.

The boys are Sonny Angels and the girl is a Littlest Pet Shop Blythe doll. I found this very cool carousel at Target.

Dilemma Solved (Part 2 of 2)

Elfreda’s dilemma (how to get the big pumpkin home?) was solved when a group of merrymakers on a hay ride passed by. They were happy for an excuse to make their fun last longer by detouring to take Elfreda—and her pumpkin—home.

Perfect Dilemma

Part One:

On a ramble through the woods, Elfreda found the perfect pumpkin, at a farm stand in the middle of nowhere. But how to get it home? It’s too heavy to carry all that way.

This lovely Blythe doll is Sarah Shades, wearing a dress I made. When I decided to use this quote, I thought I was going to have to buy a pumpkin, but then I remembered that I had this fabric pumpkin (which I also made years ago) in my stash of seasonal decorations.

This Blythe doll is Daunting Drusilla. She’s very versatile; she can look dark and gothic for Halloween, or sweet and pretty dressed up as Snow White (which she did earlier this year, with Petites for the Seven Dwarfs)! This picture is a flat lay on colored poster board.

Magical

They are just two little witches, playing with magic, alone in the woods. What could possibly go wrong?

A Little Witchy

This tiny witch is Sweet Spell Scarlett, a Petite Blythe released in 2007. I just got her NRFB on eBay, and I think she is adorable! I haven’t taken the plastic off of her legs yet…I’m afraid! I don’t want them to break!

Devilish
