Cameras

Serious photographers know that one camera is not enough! If the pictures are important to you, you need to carry a backup.

This Blythe doll is Simply Sparkly Spark, posing for the theme “Camera” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I made the dress and headband. All of her accessories (boots, fanny pack, bracelet, camera, and phone) came from a Barbie pack I got at a discount store—every item in the pack is a different color! The background is a jigsaw puzzle.

Circle of Life(Savers)

I like The Lion King as much as the next person, but…I just wasn’t inspired to go in that direction with the theme “The circle of life.” Concentrating separately on the words “circle” and “life”, and asking myself  “What do I have on hand that is round and has the word ‘Life’ in its name?”, there was only one answer, and my picture turned into an advertisement for Lifesavers!

This Blythe doll is Tokyo Bright. I love a winter-themed picture when the weather is hot!

Perfectly Accessorized

Ellie always hosts the best garden parties. All the guests go home with a gift; this time, it’s a fabulous necklace and matching bracelet set.

These Blythe dolls are Candy Carnival, Aurella Amphitrite, and Prima Dolly Peony. We just got these beautiful jewelry sets from our friend Angie Coppi and we need to show them off! She found the smallest beads, charms, and beading thread to make these  perfectly-proportioned accessories.

Summer Starts NOW!

School’s out for summer! High five!

These Middie Blythe dolls are Nellie Nibbles and Smiley Waffle, posing for the theme “School’s out for summer” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a child’s chalkboard I found at the antique mall.

Send In The Clownfish

At a time like this, silence is golden.

This Blythe doll is Plaid Parade, joined by a Sonny Angel doll and a Nemo figurine for the theme “Send in the clowns” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I don’t like clowns, so I don’t have any clown props, but clownfish are cute! The background is a jigsaw puzzle I bought with this picture in mind.

Possible Dream

It seemed like an impossible dream to have a nice back yard, but after laying down sod and building the potting bench, all that’s left for Quinn to do is to hang up the birdhouse and enjoy the space!

This Blythe doll is Quintessential Journey, posing for the theme “Impossible Dream” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I just found this cool dolly-size potting bench at the antique mall. Most of the little objects came with it (glued in place) but there was space for a few more things that I added from my stash of props.

Typewriter

Writer’s block. The struggle is real.

A good way to get past writer’s block, or any sort of creative block, is to stop thinking about it for a while. Do something else, like get some exercise, clean the house, surf the web, etc. Later, you can go back to the project with a fresh perspective.

This Blythe doll is Mandy Cotton Candy, posing for the theme “Typewriters” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The typewriter is an accessory for My Generation dolls at Target.

“Let’s roll! I brought a board for you too!”

This Blythe doll is Vera Florentine, posing for the theme “Skateboarding” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a vinyl photographer’s backdrop. I bought it from Amazon last year because I thought it looked cool, but I haven’t had a reason to use it yet. Finally—the perfect prompt!

Bouquet Toss

When it looked like the bride was about to toss her bouquet, Penelope retreated behind some potted plants. There was no way she was going to be the next one of her friends to get married!

The Blythe doll with pink hair is Snowflake Sonata; the bride is Minty Magic, wearing an old Barbie veil. This picture is for the theme “Don’t throw bouquets at me” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Because she was new in town, no one realized that Anna used to work in a bakery until she showed up at the Neighborhood Bake-Off with her entry for the competition: an elaborate three-tier wedding cake.

These Blythe dolls are Simply Lilac, Curly Blue Babe, and Simply Peppermint, posing for the theme “Anything you can do I can do better” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

This Blythe doll is Mondrian, posing for the theme “Nature Photography” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The bee is a beautiful little finger puppet.

Girls Only

“Our ‘Cross-country girls-only road trip’ is so much fun! We only stop at vintage motels. Last one in the pool is a rotten egg!”

These Petite Blythe dolls are Ivanka and Connie Corneille, posing for the theme “I enjoy being a girl” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I had a good shopping trip to Target this week—these props (car, sign, and motel) were in the “cheap” section at the front of the store! I got the camper trailer too, which I will show off later. You wouldn’t believe how many times these dolls fell out of the car while I was trying to set this up!

This picture is for the theme “Yo-yo” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. That’s my husband’s yo-yo, which he nicely let me borrow.

These Blythe dolls are Ice Rune and Playful Raindrops (Neos), and Nellie Nibbles (Middie). This picture is for the theme “Climb Every Mountain” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I found the lovely little painting of mountains at the antique mall.

Rainbow PiƱata

Hey—no peeking!

This Blythe doll is Simply Mango, posing for the theme “Rainbows” (nope, not party!) in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I’ve done several rainbow-themed doll pictures in the past, and I wanted to do something different. This cute piƱata that I had sitting in my doll room was the answer! I picked it up at Target months ago without a plan for it, and it really came in handy. The background of this picture is a chalkboard. I snipped up colored paper for the confetti.
