Brenda’s Awful Terrible Day

“I didn’t mean to litter, Officer! The wind blew the candy wrapper out of my hand!” Brenda is not having an extraordinary day.

This Blythe doll is Brenda’s Extraordinary Day, posing for the theme “Smooth Criminal” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

The Gambler

"The only sure thing about luck is that it will change." ~ Bret Harte

This Blythe doll is Leading Lady Lucy, wearing Love Mission’s stock outfit for the theme “The Gambler” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. My husband kindly let me use his dice and poker chips.

Ticket

She’s got a ticket to ride the train, and so does Polly Parrot. Grandmother will be happy to see them both. To the station!

This Blythe doll is Candy Carnival wearing her stock dress. The parrot and cage are part of an accessory pack for Our Generation dolls at Target. (It’s a very nice cage, but a very tight fit for the bird!) This picture is for the theme “She’s got a ticket to ride” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Heart

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
 —Antoine de Saint-Exupery

This Blythe doll is Simply Guava, posing for the theme “Anyone who had a heart” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

IKEA

There’s a fine line between love and obsession. Peony has crossed that line.

These Blythe dolls are Pretty Peony, Lady Panacea, and Yellow Marshmallow, posing for the theme “In the bag” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. All the furniture in this picture is from the Huset doll set from IKEA…as well as the rug, heart pillow, and black and white drawn props on the wall (excluding the two pictures with black frames). I even picked up the artificial plant on the far right at IKEA, and of course, her big blue bag!

Llama Love

Mary had a little llama,
It’s fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The llama was sure to go.

This Blythe doll is Song of London Mary, posing for the theme “T-shirt” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I recently found this beautiful, fluffy llama ornament at World Market. (It’s so soft! I just love it!) I added the words to her t-shirt using PicMonkey.

Stuck

Inconveniently, the needle on that old record player got stuck in the middle of the song, just when Ichigo was at a crucial point in the recipe and couldn’t step away to fix it.

This Blythe doll is Ichigo Heaven, wearing her stock outfit for the theme “Stuck in the middle with you” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. Look at the cute mixer! I found this beauty, along with a matching blender, at the antique mall recently. It seems to have been part of a doll house, because it has an electrical cord with a tiny plug on the end. It’s so cool!

Relax

I like the way she thinks. I guess I’m an indoor cat, too!

This Blythe doll is Lovely Katherine’s Corner, wearing Meowsy Wowsy’s stock outfit, posing for the theme “Relax” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. Angie Coppi made the beautiful quilt.

Rock Star

"I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring." ~ David Bowie

This Blythe doll is Pow Wow Poncho, posing for the theme “Rock Star” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a vinyl photographer’s backdrop.

Adventure

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” —Gustav Flaubert

This Blythe doll is Sarah Shades, posing for the theme “Leaving on a jet plane” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is scrapbooking paper that I think is so cute! I’m happy to have a chance to use it.

Life on Mars

Visit Mars! Rocket ships departing daily!

This Blythe doll is Zoe and Her Pet Fish, posing for the theme “Girl from Mars” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a wall hanging. I gathered up all my weirdo toys to portray the Martian citizens for this travel poster.

Great View

Enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon at a rooftop cafe in Paris. What could be better?

This Blythe doll is Tsumori Spirit, posing for the theme “Lazy Sunday Afternoon” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a jigsaw puzzle, and I happened to have the exact same artificial flowers on hand as the ones in the puzzle, so I used them in the foreground. I can’t seem to take Tsumori out of this dress I made, because it is just perfect on her.

Pretty

There’s something for everyone at the thrift store.

This Blythe doll is Daunting Drusilla, holding a Scrump doll (from the movie Lilo and Stitch), for the theme “Oh, you pretty things!” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Fashion

Tokyo Bright is on the cover of Vogue again? That girl is on fire!

She is wearing the stock outfit from Brenda’s Extraordinary Day for the theme “A dedicated follower of fashion” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a poster. Words added in PicMonkey.

Vanity

“Hello, Gorgeous!”

This Blythe doll is Leading Lady Lucy (with her face looking distorted by the toy mirror) posing for the theme “You’re So Vain” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. Her vanity is for Our Generation dolls at Target. I like the lights around the mirror…the only problem is that they only stay on for 5 seconds once you press the button, so I had to be fast to take the picture!

Summer

Nine to five: summer vacation edition.

These Blythe dolls are Suri Sustainable, Zoe and Her Pet Fish, and Cool Pool Lemonade (Middie), posing for the theme “9-5” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Witchy

It’s not too early to practice your broom-riding tricks. October is right around the corner, you know!

This Blythe doll is Devi Delacour, posing for the theme “Witchy woman” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I had to bust out the Halloween props a bit early this year, but I also got to use this dress we just got from Rabbit In the Moon on Etsy. Her boots came from a fashion-themed surprise ball.

Who’s Calling?

Listening to her messages, Ellie heard one from a voice she didn’t recognize. Maybe it’s a wrong number, or a prank, but what if it’s a secret admirer? Should she call the number back to find out?

This Blythe doll is Elegant Ellie, posing for the theme “I just called to say I love you” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. My artist daughter painted the lovely swan in the background.

Swim

In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.” —Thomas Jefferson

This Blythe doll is Zoe and Her Pet Fish, posing for the theme “Swimmers” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I got the cute beach buildings at Target last summer.

Live Music

The Mermaid Cafe is the place to be on a Friday evening.

These Blythe dolls are Cherry Beach Sunset, Coco Collette, and Cadence Majorette, posing for the theme “Play that funky music” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a jigsaw puzzle.

Put It Down

She’s probably just going to chop some firewood.

This Blythe doll is Angellica Nurse of Compassion, wearing Leading Lady Lucy’s stock dress, posing for the theme “Tools down” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. This picture feels a bit more sinister than is usual for me, but it seemed perfect for the theme, and was inspired by the art of Kelly Reemtsen (google her, she’s awesome). I got this wonderful axe in a bag of doll-sized tools at the antique mall last year; this is the first time I’ve used any of them. At the time, I asked myself “What will I ever use these for?” and almost didn’t get them, but they were only a couple of dollars, so I put them in the cart. Now I’m glad I did!

In Her Room

In the privacy of her bedroom, Zyanya examines her new purchases. If her sisters discover that she bought three new pairs of boots they will be appalled at her spendthrift ways, so she plans to hide them in the back of her closet, and bring them out one pair at a time.

This Blythe doll is Zyanya Remembers, posing for the theme “In your bedroom” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Princess

“The only thing important is what’s under the skin.” — Mama Odie (The Princess and the Frog)

This Blythe doll is Coquette Lumiere, accompanied by Wonder Frog for the theme “Princess” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I found Coquette’s cape in a bag of odds and ends I bought as a “lot” on eBay; I never know useful item I will discover next!

Boots

What’s the point of having a wallet full of money if you can’t treat yourself once in a while?

This Blythe doll is Zyanya Remembers, posing for the theme “These boots were made for walking” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. As you can see, I used the box that Coquette Lumiere arrived in to make a shop window, but I didn’t alter the box permanently. It will be flattened and added to the pile of stock Blythe boxes. It made me think: I have so many dolls, and all their boxes are in the attic; if I was to sell a doll, trying to find her particular box would probably be too much trouble for me to bother with…so why save the boxes?

Let’s Play!

Everyone loves to play Candy Land. Come on, let’s play!

These are all Littlest Pet Shop Blythe dolls. Since this picture is a flat lay, Takara Petites wouldn’t work, because they close their eyes when they lie flat! This is for the theme “Play the game” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The game board is one of four games included in this “book” from Target.

Friends

It’s nice to have friends who know what you like and order it for you before you arrive.

These Blythe dolls are Little Milk Heart, Zyanya Remembers, and Blue Rabbit, posing for the theme “We are your friends” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Explore

“It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end.”      —Ernest Hemingway

This Blythe doll is Anna Sui, posing for the theme “A world to explore” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The background is a jigsaw puzzle.

Walk

“Allow your dog to take you for a walk every day. It’s good for the body and good for the soul.” —Eckhart Tolle

This Blythe doll is Fighting Milk Saranghae, posing for the theme “Walking the Dog” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.

Drive

It’s a beautiful day…driving with the top down, music blaring, 20 mph over the speed limit…watch out Fani! Your fun is about to come to a screeching halt!  Although Officer Peony’s squad car is temporarily out of commission, she can still pull you over with her turbo-charged scooter!

These Blythe dolls are Prima Dolly Peony and Fani Flamingo, posing for the theme “Drive” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. You can’t see Peony’s whole outfit, which is a shame because it is the cute police woman’s ensemble which came as part of Love Mission’s stock. I bought the outfit years ago and I’ve never used it until now. My artist daughter made the weathered billboard.

Nice Day at the Park

They are just a girl and her dinosaur, enjoying a day at the park.

This Blythe doll is Simply Guava, posing for the theme “Animal” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I wanted to use a different animal than I usually use (so, no cats this time!) and I love this big, happy-looking T-Rex that I got a couple of years ago when there was a month with lots of dinosaur themes.

Dramatic Entrance

First, wear something stunning. Second, wait until all the other guests have gone inside. Finally, make your dramatic entrance!

This Blythe doll is Daunting Drusilla wearing Stella Serendipitous’ stock outfit for the theme “Lady in red” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The door is from Byer’s Choice. I’ve had this same door in green for quite a while and I love it, so when I saw this red one at the antique mall for half the price, I couldn’t pass it up!
