I stopped in to look for them and I was dismayed by how empty that section was…but there was ONE package of tools left! Score!

I got my first Sea Sailor See (“Saylor”) when she was released in 2019, and I’ve found her to be quite versatile and photogenic. I got the second one earlier this year in a Junie Moon Happy Bag. She remained in her box until now, because I liked the idea of using both of them in this picture for the theme “Learn a new language” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I’m calling the new girl Sayori. Their back story is that they are cousins who grew up in different countries (Saylor in the U.S., Sayori in Japan.) This picture is their first meeting.

For this picture, I finally got to use the big piece of plexiglass I bought months ago. The audience of dolls are set up on my big chalkboard, and the doll doing the speaking is suspended above them on the plexiglass. I put this together in a hurry, so the details aren’t perfect, but I like the effect and look forward to doing more two-level photos in the future. Yes, I know my doll room is a mess!
The first lesson in the book “Learn to Draw” is: look at a tree and draw what you see. She nailed it!

Playful Raindrops and Cousin Olivia are quite serious about the theme “Sewing” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I personally have gotten away from all the sewing I used to do; in fact, I had to remove a lot of accumulated junk from my sewing table to set up this picture, but in doing so, I started to think that it would be fun to start sewing for my Blythe dolls again. I think I will! These girls are each holding half of a Christmas dress I started several years ago. Will I finish it this year? All signs point to YES!
Marta entered her cherry pie in the bake-off and won first place! The prize is a modeling contract with The Delicious Pie company. Here she is in her first advertisement. Does it make you want to eat more pie?
This is for the theme “Baking” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. I wanted to use a very limited color palette of reds and golden brown for this picture; that’s why Winterish Allure was the perfect choice with her red lips and golden hair. She’s wearing a Barbie apron I found at my local antique mall. (Funny note: the apron had a loop at the top to go over Barbie’s head…it was a bit small for Blythe! I just cut it and pulled the ends to the back. Maybe sometime I will replace it with ties.) The background is a piece of fabric. I used my favorite doll photo “formula” when setting this up: a doll + a prop + a background = a very nice picture! I added the frame and words using PicMonkey. I purchased the cute little pie just to use in this picture and I gobbled it up afterwards. It was indeed delicious. Full disclosure: it was actually apple, not cherry.
